TAU CHAPTER OF THETA CHI FRATERNITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA TAU TOPICS Spring 2015 Tau Chapter Stronger Than Ever CHAPTER EMERGES FROM PROBATION I am pleased to announce that the Chapter has emerged from University-imposed probation. A lot of work went into ensuring that the Chapter came out of this tough period stronger and better equipped to succeed. There are countless people who spent many hours to see this through, but I specifically want to thank former Realty Board President Brian Seel '04, Chapter Advisor Clay Sweger '97, members of the alumni probation committee, former Chapter President Jesse Sands '12 and his executive board, House Director Garrick Harding '08, and our brothers at IHQ. Without the diligent work of these men and countless others, the Chapter would not have successfully emerged from probation. Please take a moment to thank these brothers for their hard work and sacrifice. Despite our recent challenges, the Chapter is stronger than ever, with 124 active brothers and 17 spring pledges. Demand to live in the Chapter House outpaces rooms and there is a waiting list for the 2015-16 academic year. Our brothers, led by fall Florida Blue Key President Garrick Harding '08 and former Senate President Joseph Michaels '11, continue to be leaders on campus and serve countless organizations across campus. The philanthropic endeavors of the Chapter are also at an all-time high with the signature event K-Schue Kickball tournament having its most successful year to date. CHAPTER HOUSE SETS STANDARD FOR FRATERNITY HOUSES It truly is a remarkable time to be a Theta Chi at the University of Florida. Our Chapter House continues to be the envy of every fraternity man on campus, and it has been featured in a national publication as a standard for all fraternity houses. Every single member had a hand in laying the foundation for our new magnificent house and hundreds took the additional step of making a financial contribution to the building fund. If you were unable to contribute prior to construction, please consider doing so now. Your contribution will help us lower the Chapter's debt burden and ensure that more men are able to share in the experience of being a member of Tau Chapter. Thank you to everyone who supported the project, in particular our donors. Please be sure to follow through on your commitment as it allows the Realty Board to effectively plan for future expenses, budget properly, and reduce dues for the active Chapter. 2016 MARKS 100TH YEAR OF TAU CHAPTER Looking forward, 2016 will be a monumental year for Tau Chapter, as we mark its 100th year at the University of Florida. Theta Chi is the oldest continuously existing fraternity on campus and we will host a celebration befitting of such a milestone. Please be on the lookout for more information on this event in the coming year. Thank you all for your unwavering support of the Chapter. I look forward to seeing everyone again soon and please let me know if I can be of service. Fraternally, Kevin Reilly '04 kevin.f.reilly@gmail.com Brothers Bobby Finigan '12 and Erich Kryzyak '12 congratulate initiate Zane Katz '14 at the fall 2014 initiation ritual. UPDATE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION Many brothers have chosen to make monthly or yearly online payments to pay their pledges for the Celebrating the Legacy, Forging the Future campaign. As credit cards expire or are replaced, it is important to update your new card information to keep your pledges on schedule.
