Sigma Chi 3 Matt Johnson '11, Derrick Porter '12, and Landon Mosley '11 present the Boys and Girls Club at Wooldridge Elementary with a check for $5,000 raised from Fight Night. SIGMA CHI RAISED THE BAR LAST FALL A s the newly elected consul for the 2015 calendar year, I cannot express how truly excited I am to serve a Chapter that has given me so much. The new executive committee and the Chapter hope to continue the pattern of excellence Alpha Nu has displayed in its most recent years, and we know we have big shoes to fill. SUCCESS FROM NEW AND CURRENT MEMBERS On November 15, we initiated 49 new brothers. These men hail from all over, including Seattle, Chicago, and right here in Austin, Texas. Our brothers excel inside the classroom and on the field, boasting a top-three Chapter GPA, a recent intramural Greek league basketball championship, and two walk-ons on the football field. PHILANTHROPY BREAKS RECORDS In the last few months, one of our Chapter's most significant achievements has been our philanthropy. In mid-November we hosted Fight Night, which happened to be our largest philanthropy event in Alpha Nu history, raising $100,000 for the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the B+ Foundation, and other local charities. You can read more about Fight Night on page 4 of this newsletter. ALPHA NU CONTINUES PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL SCHOOL In a similar spirit of service, 2015 marked the second year of Alpha Nu's partnership with Wooldridge Elementary. Many members of the chapter participate in a mentoring program where we spend time with 4th and 5th graders every week. At the end of November, we put on a Field Day for Wooldridge Elementary School Boys and Girls Club. Here, we enjoyed a great day of activities with the kids and presented them with our donation from Fight Night, which will help fund much-needed field trips and other outings. Despite a great end to a great year, Alpha Nu has big plans for 2015.
