Escrow was opened on March 14, with an agreement for the group to purchase the privately- owned structure for the price of $441,000. With continued support from the commu- nity, the group is confident the remaining loan obliga- tion can be satisfied within the 24-month loan agree- ment time frame. The group would like to acknowledge sellers Ron Clark and Ben Sale and their families, past Board Members and especially each and every member of the community who sup- ported the efforts towards the acquisition of the the- ater. The group's goal is the use of the State Theatre as a performing and cultural arts center for generations to come. The Capital Campaign will continue for the pur- chase of the building, as the group begins a new era as owner and operator of the theater. The group will continue to promote and provide quality performing arts programming, organizers say. "The key to long term success may rest with our rental program," said Chairman Bill Cornelius.
