Vision of the Men of Principle Initiative • Betas will be universally known as friends, gentlemen, and scholars. • Beta Theta Pi will be acclaimed and respected by the academic community. • Beta Theta Pi will be endorsed by parents who will advocate membership for young men. • Betas will be in high demand by leaders of business, government, and the professions. • Beta Theta Pi will engender bonds of friendship and brotherhood, which create a lifelong commitment to serve and support the Fraternity. CREATING MEN OF PRINCIPLE AT PURDUE Beta Mu's Vision: To re-establish campus dominance in scholastics, athletics, and leadership by attracting, retaining, and developing the best young men on Purdue's campus. Guiding Goals: • Create the preeminent fraternity house on Purdue's campus • Develop Men of Principle through ongoing education and participation in Beta national leadership initiatives • Establish the funding necessary to invest in a scholarship that will differentiate Beta from other fraternities • Recruit the top incoming freshmen • Accomplish and sustain a 3.0 average undergraduate GPA • Achieve financial independence and proactively plan for future needs • Graduate Beta Mu members who are Men of Principle and will benefit the greater community as leaders What has changed since the introduction of the Men of Principle initiative in 1997? • The average chapter GPA has increased by 11%—2.83 to 3.15 on a 4.0 scale. • The average chapter size has increased from 49 to 67. • Beta Theta Pi has increased advisor support per chapter from 1.8 to 7. • The number of leadership development experiences available to undergraduates has been greatly increased.
