Logan is first in his age group going into the final stop of the four-stop skate series and second in the open class, which is for partici- pants 18-29, but includes younger partici- pants, said Anderson Recreation Supervisor Pam Lewis. Lewis, who started the series five years ago, is hopeful the public will come out and support one of their own, she said. "The competition is very tight for the over- all prizes," Anderson said. "These are a great group of kids and so much fun to watch. Prizes, raffles, food and some outstanding skateboarding will be at the event. Stop by and see what our local skaters can do, you won't be disappointed." Lewis said she is proud of the series, the volunteers who help make it happen and the skaters they do it for. "The way they support each other, acknowledging accomplishments, watching out for each other while competing is great," Lewis said. "In a jam format, you have as many as five to seven skaters at a time in the park, they are very aware of each other, with very few, if any collisions." Finals for the North State Skate Series begin with registration at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Anderson Skateboard Park at Volonte on Emily Drive. The competition starts at noon. There is a $15 registration fee for those who wish to enter. There will be lights for some night skating. To check out the point standings visit www.ci.anderson.ca.us.
