The schedule change reflects adjustments in the fees charged by the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health and other costs that are passed down to the county's Environmental Health Division. The fees for various tests include $45 for Microbiology Total Coliform, $45 for Full Inorganic Panel, $100 for Organic Chemistry Pesticides and $100 for Organic Chemistry Volatile Organic Chemicals. Offices are located in the basement of the Historic Courthouse, 130 Gillespie St. New Fee Schedule For Private Well Testing Evans County Hires New Finance Director Cumberland County Manager Amy Cannon has hired Vicki Evans as the County's finance director effective Dec. 15. Evans has been the Finance Department's accounting manager since May. A Missouri native and U.S. Army veteran, Evans is a graduate of Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga., where she earned a bachelor's business administration degree in accounting. She has 14 years of accounting experience and was the director of claims and funding for the managed care organization Eastpointe Human Services in Lumberton for two years before joining Cumberland County's Finance Department. She also worked for Southeastern Regional Mental Health in Lumberton for eight years, first as the accounting manager and then the finance officer. Evans will oversee a department of 15 employees. Former finance director Melissa Cardinali was promoted to assistant county manager for finance and administrative services in June. The Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District invites elementary, middle and high school students in the county to participate in its annual poster, essay and public speaking contests. The theme of the competition, sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, is "Wetlands Are Wonderful." The deadline to enter is Jan. 15. 'Wetlands' Poster Contest Open To Schools Cumberland County Government offices will be closed for the Christmas Holiday Dec. 24-26. All Solid Waste landfills and container sites will be open Dec. 24, from 6:30 a.m. until noon, but will be closed all day on Thursday, Dec. 25. The landfill and container sites will operate on a regular schedule on Friday, Dec. 26. All Cumberland County Public Library and Information Center locations will be closed Dec. 24-26 and will reopen on Saturday, Dec. 27.
