A s the fall semester comes to a close, we look back at the past year with a great sense of accomplishment. The Chi Omega house has undergone some much-needed updates and repairs, but what makes our house unique is the women who live in it. I am constantly impressed by their professionalism and responsibility for their community. This summer, members of the decoration committee refreshed décor and furnishings in several areas of the chapter house and the corporation purchased a major kitchen appliance. One of the board's responsibilities is to anticipate the need for future improvements. It is not realistic to rely solely on the rent collected from the chapter, and it is important for Chi Omega to stay on par with other sorority chapters on campus and projects they are completing. Chi Omega is the only campus sorority that does not have private outdoor living space that can be used during recruitment. We continue to refine the deck and patio project that we announced in the spring Mu News in order to meet stringent Berkeley Design Review requirements and still contain building costs. It is important for the board to create a long-term plan for the sustainability of Mu Chapter. We look forward to sharing plans with you. We welcome Chi Omega alumnae, from Mu Chapter and beyond, to stop by to see the chapter house updates and connect with the amazing women in the house. Watch for an announcement celebrating Eleusinia on or near April 5, 2015, and join us to celebrate Chi Omega's 120th. Please contact me if you are interested in joining the board of directors or serving on a special committee of the corporation.
