T
his summer, the Theta Gamma House Corporation added a living area
and small kitchenette to the existing office and bedroom in the house
director quarters. We also added an entrance on the east side of the chapter
house, directly into these quarters, as required by the Norman fire marshal.
Security was also upgraded in this section of the chapter house. Elaine
Yarbrough '11 loves her new living area, and we are fortunate to have a
house director who lives in our chapter house year-around. Thank you to
all our generous alumnae for making this remodel and expansion possible!
The House Corporation and Parents' Club continue to update and decorate
the chapter house. With more than 320 members, you can understand how
much wear and tear it has every day. We are thrilled that our undergraduates
like to live, study, and hang out at the chapter house. Alumnae rarely get to
see our beautiful formal living room or our comfortable, attractive informal
living room as we always move furniture around and often store it out of
the house to make room for large groups.
The former chapter room has been converted into a study hall/activities
room with sofas, tables, and desks. The room can no longer be used for
chapter meetings, per the fire marshal, but it is a wonderful study area.
Thank you to Kacey Glasscock Luster, OSU '92, for donating beautiful
leather sofas for this room.
Thank you again to everyone who has contributed to our annual fundraising
campaign. As most of you know, the chapter pays rent to the Theta Gamma
House Corporation, which owns the chapter house at 1611 College. We
use most of this money for regular maintenance, including but not limited
to heating and air repairs and upgrades, painting, general maintenance,
and lawn care and maintenance. The additional money you donate to this
campaign allows us to continually update, decorate, and improve the entire
chapter house. Lots of small donations add up—we appreciate our generous
alumnae who send a $25 donation every year.
