Lion'sShare ALPHA OMICRON CHAPTER OF ALPHA DELTA PI AT OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY FALL 2014 The A lpha Omicron's House Corporation (HC) Board has many responsibilities and opportunities to make improvements at the Chapter house. The primary function is to manage and maintain the facility. The house was dedicated in 1954 and with an ever-aging house there are many repair, maintenance, safety, and beautification projects to keep us busy. We also support the Delta members through events, activities, programs, and mutual goal-setting. Additionally, we recently determined that the board should take an active role in fostering alumnae communication. NEW FORMAL LIVING ROOM WOWS DELTA MEMBERS Each year projects are chosen to improve or update part of our facility. For the past two years, the HC Board has concentrated on remodeling the first floor Formal Living Room, Foyer, Solarium and Dining Room. New wood flooring was added in the hallway leading to the Study Hall and ceramic tile was added in the Dining Room and Solarium. New furniture, curtains, and paint helped create a lighter and brighter space. Stop by 1309 W. University Avenue and see the changes today! MAKING SISTERHOOD A PRIORITY OSU Panhellenic continues to raise chapter total each year and we currently have members in excess of 215. Our house sleeps 58 women so we face challenges in creating and maintaining our sisterhood because almost 75% of the members live out-of-house. We don't have enough space for Monday night formal dinners or Chapter meetings, which must now be held on campus. To help create bonding relationships, this fall the HC Board introduced open lunches for all members, inviting out-of-house members to the Chapter house for a buffet Monday through Friday. This has been a successful and welcome addition with many positive outcomes. PLEDGE CLASS REUNIONS AT THE CHAPTER HOUSE Several alumnae pledge-class groups have held reunions at the Chapter house during the summer. Whether it's a single-day event or a weekend excursion, this is a wonderful way to reconnect with sisters, share memories, and explore the Chapter house and OSU. If interested, reservations may be made through the HC Board. NEW ALUMNAE RELATIONS PROGRAM The HC Board, in concert with Chapter Advisors and Officers, has decided to distribute a semi- annual newsletter to all AO alumnae, Delta members and their parents. We are committed to communicating with you about alumnae news and events, Chapter milestones and activities, as well as information about OSU. We were excited to see more than 70 alumnae attend an open house at AO during Homecoming Walk- around. Due to the popularity of this event, the HC Board plans to host an open house annually to give alumnae a place to meet and visit. We hope you enjoy this newsletter, the latest addition to our alumnae communication program. Watch for other alumnae events; we have more exciting opportunities planned! A lpha Omicron's endowed scholarship established through the OSU Foundation for our undergraduate members was announced in conjunction with our 90th anniversary celebration in September 2011. ADPi is one of five sororities that took advantage of the T. Boone Pickens Scholarship Match Program, which offers 1.5 times matching funds for tax- deductible donations up to our $90,000 goal. Corporate matching gifts also count toward our eligibility. Our deadline is January 2016; however, as soon as we reach our goal we may begin to award scholarships. Once fully funded, AO's $225,000 endowed scholarship will allow us to award more than $11,000 each year to qualifying Chapter members enrolled at OSU. As reported last July 2014, we already have donations totaling $81,711 made by individual alumnae across the country, local alumnae associations, Chapter members and their parents, as well as Alpha Omicron's House Corporation Board and advisors. Please help us reach our goal by making a tax-deductible contribution. Checks with "ADPi scholarship fund #34-79050" printed on the memo line may be mailed to: OSU Foundation, P.O.
