Homecoming Success Alpha Delta had a blast at Homecoming 2014. With our partners, Delta Tau Delta, we implemented the theme of Music Festival into our house decoration and skit. We also worked together to give back through the Mizzou Homecoming Blood Drive and other service activities. What an awesome semester it has already been so far and we are looking to forward to all that is coming up in the next couple of weeks! Alpha Delta Welcomes 97 New Members (Continued from page 1) J olene Schulz '62 found a home away from home when she joined Alpha Delta chapter in 1962. The overwhelming reality of college and moving away from home was softened by the friendships she formed within Gamma Phi Beta. This sisterhood helped her throughout her college years and into her career, so Jolene takes every opportunity she can to give back to Alpha Delta chapter today. After graduating with a master's degree in education, Jolene worked for Columbia Public Schools for 35 years. She started as a kindergarten teacher, then worked as director of grants and contracts, and spent the last 24 years as director of communications for the district. Although she is now retired, Jolene credits much of her professional success to the skills developed through her Gamma Phi membership. "Sorority life laid the foundation for developing confidence in my abilities and in me. It helped teach me patience and endurance and gave me the inspiration to never give up." Jolene encourages active members to take advantage of their time in the chapter house and get involved. "Work as hard as you can and get involved because it leads to a better life. Always be on the lookout for networking opportunities and bring the Gamma Phi name to the forefront of your conversations." Gamma Phi Beta has remained a prominent aspect of Jolene's life because she has stayed connected with her Alpha Delta sisters. She and Jean Cox Hervey '62 received their 50-year pins two years ago. "Jean and I met when we pledged. Our boyfriends, now husbands, carried our luggage in and the four of us have been together ever since. During our preparations for Alpha Delta's 90th anniversary, I called all the members of my pledge class, only to realize that three of my sisters are in Florida the same time my husband and I are. This reunited us and we now meet several times during the year—especially when we are in Florida; lifelong sisters and friends." Today, Jolene serves on the House Corporation Board. She has stayed very involved with the chapter over the years by serving on the alumnae association, hosting parties at her home, and acting as the chapter advisor for 10 years. She encourages all alumnae to re-engage with Alpha Delta and believes that Gamma Phi membership as an alumna is even more important than when you are in college. "My volunteering has made me realize that Gamma Phi is relevant, life changing, and forever." Jolene lives in Columbia with her husband, Bill, a member of Kappa Alpha Order. She stays busy volunteering, reading, traveling, and playing the piano, and would love to hear from Gamma Phi sisters. You can contact her by e-mail at jmschulz@centurytel.net. LIFELONG SISTERS AND FRIENDS Jolene Schulz '62 Is Thankful for Her Alpha Delta Sisterhood C ollegiate Leadership Consultant Danielle Roden '09 has taken her Gamma Phi Beta experience to a new level. She is enjoying the opportunity to give back to Gamma Phi and working with women from the sisterhood across the country. Danielle became interested in the CLC position while serving as membership VP for Alpha Delta. Through her position, she worked closely with Senior CLC Mary Vanier, Kansas State University '85, and international President Krista Spanninger Davis, Bowling Green State University '87. "They suggested that I apply for the position, and I was intrigued by the leadership aspect and having the opportunity to give back to Gamma Phi Beta, as the organization that has given me so much. In the same way, I could show my gratitude and contribute to the prestige and longevity of the organization," she said. Instead of being organized by region, the CLC program within Gamma Phi Beta seeks to find the best fit with the chapter and the consultant. Since beginning her position in May, Danielle has helped chapters at the University of Alabama, Texas State University, Grand Valley State, and most recently James Madison University. The second half of her semester will be equally packed with travel. The most rewarding experience so far, Danielle said, has been the colonization project at James Madison University, which recently made Gamma Phi Beta history with the largest new member class of 215. "The women that we are welcoming into the organization are excellent candidates Sharing the Danielle Roden '09 Tells
