PAGE 4 TAU TALK Homecoming Reunion—Another Gamma Upsilon Success I t was my pleasure to attend the Homecoming weekend and reunion held October 10-12. Just seeing so many members of my pledge class and other brothers at the event made it a great success for me. A few of the guys I had not seen in 20 years, making me decide that we need to organize and promote at least one major alumni event each year. For now, ISU Homecoming seems to be a great date to focus upon. Led by Matt Peters '11 (President) and Pete Gallos '14 (House Manager), the actives, pledges, and House Director/Cook Mike Kelly put forth a very strong effort for the weekend, giving a large amount of their time to ensure the house was organized, maintained, and cleaned extensively. Mike Kelly led the Homecoming Weekend food preparation and kitchen activities resulting in some very tasty meals and hors d'oeuvres for the alumni, actives, and pledges. Guys, the house really looked good from a cleanliness and maintenance standpoint, however, we have a strong need to renovate, update, and improve in order to compete effectively on campus. Cleaning can't address the need for renovation! The actives and pledges, led by Sam Doyle '14 and Matt Bulanda '13, organized the trophy cabinets, put together old photos, framed documents and awards, hung old composites on the third floor for viewing, and organized historical documents that went back to the Black Hawk Club prior to receiving our ATW charter in 1908. Approximately 40 alumni attended (with the 1975 pledge class making the strongest appearance) and the chapter matched that figure with almost 100% participation at the Saturday morning tailgate at the house, the game, and then the post-game activities, which included cocktails, Hickory Park BBQ dinner, and a post-dinner mixer and storytelling in the Gamma Upsilon main living room. The actives and pledges made a strong effort to engage and connect with the alumni, which made the weekend even more of a success. Finally, we demanded a Cyclone victory over Toledo and got it, 37-30 on a beautiful fall day at Jack Trice Stadium! The proverbial icing on the cake for a great weekend.
