MISSOURIGAMMA PAGE 3 THIRD PLACE IN GREEK WEEK The fall semester has started off strong for Missouri Gamma. After weeks of hard work and preparation, the Chapter took third place among fraternities at the annual Greek Week competition on campus. This is the first time we have placed in Greek Week in several years. One competition within this week was the Hercules competition. Each fraternity chose one member to represent their chapter and complete a variety of tasks throughout the week. This year, we chose Chance Alexander '15 to represent MO Gamma. Chance dominated the competition and took first place by a substantial mark. ACCELERATOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Accelerator Scholarship Program is in full swing and delivering concrete results. After the first chemistry and math exams, the majority of the new members scored in the mid-B to high-A range. There has been a tremendous amount of positive feedback from the members enrolled in the program. "The accelerator program definitely helped me on the first round of tests. I knew exactly what to expect on test day and there were no surprises," Adam Thomas '19 said. The program consists of mandated use of the Student Success Center, as well as an in-house mentor program in which the older members offer guidance to the new members. SUPPORTING THE COMMUNINTY Missouri Gamma has drastically improved its community service involvement this semester. The Chapter has given more than 1,300 hours to the community, which comes to nearly 14 hours per man. This is already three hours more per brother than last semester. SEMESTER HAPPENINGS MO Gamma's annual Moms Day was a huge success with more than 60 mothers in attendance. The members and their mothers headed to Three Squirrels Winery during the day and then had a delicious meal prepared by the Chapter chefs. Our softball team is undefeated and headed to the playoffs. We participated in the annual Rock Drag competetiton during Homecoming on October 16 and all had a great time.
