This excellence is demonstrated by our: • Outstanding scholarship performance: ranked number 1 among fraternities; nine members with a 4.0 GPA in the spring • Excellent recruiting results: 27 top men • Acceleration program: focused on new members getting A's on their first chemistry and math tests • Strong representation on the football team • Service projects in the Rolla community The list goes on, and of course the key to all of this is good men focused on the SigEp goals of Sound Body, Sound Mind. DUCAL CROWN RAISE Included with this mailing, you will find a request for your support of our Ducal Crown Raise. Our goal is to have annual alumni support of $17,000. The key to a sustainable $17K annual alumni funding is broad participation. At a little less than 900 alumni, that's $20 per man. Think about contributing $100 to cover yourself and four brothers. If you can do more, great! We had an excellent start in 2013 with $4,000. Please help us get to $8,000 this year. Ducal Crown Raise funds our powerful and effective performance-based scholarship program and allows alumni, particularly those who can't be with the Chapter physically, to participate in the building of "Not just a good Chapter...but a great Chapter." Your gifts are tax deductible. ALUMNI MENTORS Alumni support of our mentoring program has increased thanks to Brian Bakala '13, Dan Bax '08, John Belshe '11, Virgil Jordan, Idaho Gamma '09, Chet Parry '08, Mike Smith '65, David Steele '10, Steve Thies '72, Gerry Wappelhorst '73, and Josh Wilmes '11. These brothers are all serving as mentors for our Chapter officers, all done long distance. Thanks to each of them for their commitment to helping our Chapter excel. SECURING THE FUTURE We brought the solicitation phase of the Our House… Our Home campaign to a close in 2012. To date, we've collected nearly 77 percent of the $1.1 million committed by loyal MO Gamma alumni and friends. However, we're nearly $127,000 behind in scheduled pledge payments. On page 2, you will find a chart showing payment rate per class in five-year increments. Please band with your brothers to ensure we have 100 percent participation from all classes. At the start of the house renovation project, the Alumni Corporation had enough savings on hand to invest approximately $400,000 in the renovation project. Coincidentally, that is pretty close to the $370,000 the original house cost in 1970. As the house renovation was completed in 2011, the board had discussions about how to ensure the Alumni Corporation has funds to invest in the house renovation/reconstruction in 2036 (or whatever year it happens). We decided our goal should be what the house cost today, approximately $3.5 million. Included in the calculation of the Chapter rent is an amount for part of the depreciation. The first year amount was $20,000, increasing by five percent each year. When the loan is paid off in 2026, what was being paid for the loan will also go in to the savings program, all of which should produce an appropriate amount to invest in the project in the future. THANK YOU I hope you all appreciate the extraordinary job Mike Kearney '61 does in creating the E-Beartracks. He does it pretty well single-handedly. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated brother.
