Move-in to the house on Jefferson Avenue went well, and all the brothers, especially those living in the house, are thrilled to be back on campus. While it's a new experience for all of us, having a Chapter House has brought the brothers even closer together and provided new opportunities for fellowship. We look forward to having the charter approved by Headquarters and cannot wait to be officially recognized! Alabama Beta Recruits 48 New Members Recruitment this fall was a huge success. Vice President of Recruitment Trevor Pinchback '16, along with his committee, did a stellar job bringing in 48 new members to the Chapter. This large new member class brings our total manpower to the highest it's been since coming back to campus—118 members! The class is comprised of outstanding men from all over the nation who bring many qualities to Alabama Beta. SigEp Gives Back Our Casino Royale philanthropy event on September 26 was a huge success and raised several thousand dollars for, Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama. With close to 400 people in attendance, the event, held at Hotel Capstone, was a fun evening filled with craps, blackjack, and poker with all proceeds benefitting a great cause. Entertainment for the event was provided by the Dueling Pianos, a local cover band that always puts on a great show. Undergraduates Welcome Parents to the Capstone Parent's Weekend on September 6 was a fantastic event with close to 80 parents attending. We introduced our new parents' club and provided information about the Chapter over a light meal prepared by our kitchen staff. This was a fun event that allowed our parents to meet one another as well as our brothers. Our new members are proud to have joined our Chapter and had a great time on their retreat on October 4. This was an opportunity for the class to come together and truly build the bonds of brotherhood away from the distractions of school. New Member Coordinator Tyler Brake '17 is doing a fantastic job of educating the new members. Chapter Raises the Academic Bar Our biggest goal for this semester is to grow as a Chapter. This includes manpower—we hope to reach 140 members in the next year—and academics. We have held the highest fraternity GPA on campus for the last three semesters, achieving a 3.48 in spring 2014. However, we are not content to stop there; our goal as a Chapter is to achieve a cumulative chapter GPA of 3.5 over the course of the year. Though it's an ambitious goal, I feel confident we can achieve it. The coming year will be an exciting time at Alabama Beta, and I am truly honored to be a part of it. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about the Chapter, and we hope to see you soon! Fraternally, Jeffrey Collins '15 Chapter President (601) 517-1737 | jscollins1@crimson.ua.edu This fall Alabama Beta had one of its most successful recruitment campaigns both in its history and on campus for the year.
