Gamma Xi Anchor 5 G amma Xi is extremely lucky to have such strong support from both our alumnae and parents; recruitment would not have been possible without their support. From donating food, decorating the lodge or being there for a comforting conversation, the love and compassion they share with us is truly amazing. Academics Gamma Xi has made positive changes over the last semester. We moved up a position in grades, raising our GPA to 3.05. We are so excited to have Barbara Bergman Robertson '71 as our scholarship advisor for the school year. She has a lot of great ideas that will ensure our academics improve. Community Service Giving back to the community is something we value in at Gamma Xi. Vice President Foundation Niki Dehoyos '11 has done a wonderful job encouraging us to get involved. Our current project involves reading archives aloud, so they can be recorded and played back to the visually impaired. The service is offered through a department at Texas Tech, and it has been wonderful getting to know some of the staff. The ladies also served food and walked the corn maize with visually impaired children; clients with the Division for Blind services of LBB/Amarillo. Recruitment Formal recruitment was a stressful, but very exciting week. We participated in the largest recruitment yet, with roughly 1,200 potential new members. Gamma Xi received 89 fantastic new sisters. We had a tremendous recruitment and it shows with the fact that new members already know what it means to be a Delta Gamma and hold the same values as chapter members. Campus Involvement Gamma Xi has five members in President's Select, five members in Alpha Kappa Psi (co- ed business fraternity), five members in Phi Alpha Delta (pre-law fraternity), four members in Student Government Association, and two members in Chancellor's Ambassadors. We also have a number of members in Rho Lambda and Order of Omega, which are both Greek honor societies, and Mortar Board, an organization for the top 50 seniors at Texas Tech University. It has been a blessing to be part of such an amazing Delta Gamma chapter. I am so proud of all of our members' hard work during recruitment, their dedication to academics, their drive to get involved in other organizations on campus, and kindhearted spirit to give back to the community. I know Gamma Xi will flourish next semester and for years to come, in large part due to our alumnae support. Our doors are always open for a visit!
