A nticipation has been one of the primary themes on campus at the University of Texas in 2014. As the new school year begins, we are beginning to see these anticipated changes take effect, both on the football field and with the Gamma Eta Chapter. Specifically, Alpha Tau Omega has seen sustained growth in the number and quality of young men joining our brotherhood. A successful recruitment has concluded with the introduction of a 36-man pledge class to Gamma Eta. With the addition of this class, the number of undergraduate members will be brought to 116 total members, making Alpha Tau Omega one of the largest and most competitive fraternities on campus. In July, Gamma Eta was recognized once again at ATΩ Congress in Orlando. The undergraduate chapter received two excellence awards for philanthropy and scholarship. In addition to these awards, they also received honorable mention for the True Merit Award— one of the national fraternity's top honors—for the third straight year. The Board of Trustees was also presented the Upper Alpha award for its support and service to the undergraduate chapter. In an effort to maintain this support, there will be some forthcoming changes taking place with the board of trustees. Due to relocation from the Austin area, I will be stepping down as the chairman at the end of the fall semester after three years of service. Active alumni participation in the board of trustees is vital to ensuring the continued success of Gamma Eta and is strictly voluntary. I want to encourage any brothers interested in serving the undergraduate chapter to contact me directly at gerp@ utexas.edu. I am excited about the direction of the fraternity and the promising initiatives currently in the works. Thank you for your support and consideration over the past few years.
