Summerlike warmth and humidity will build over the Southern states from Texas to the Carolinas, while near- to below-average temperatures will extend from the northern Plains to New England. The heaviest rain will fall from parts of Kansas to the Ohio Valley, where there is the potential for localized flooding. Locally strong storms can also occur in the warm and humid air. An Area Mail Processing (AMP) Feasibility Study is the consolidation of all originating and/or destinating distribution operations from one or more Post Offices/facilities into other automated processing facilities for the purpose of improving operational efficiency and or service. Their plan will not improve operational efficiency and or service. Their plan will not provide prompt, reliable, and efficient service to the public. What effect will this have on your local mail service for Tehama county citizens and surrounding communities? • Checks, other income and critical time sensitive documents would be delayed • Mortgage and other bill payments would be delayed • Small business and Non-profits would see further delay and incur costs • Mailers who drop ship (DSCF) 960 can expect changes • Election results could be negatively affected by delay of service • Senior Citizens and Veterans medications will be delayed • The delay in service would be even greater for those in rural areas • Redding Mail Processing Automation is at 97% accuracy. W.Sacramento is 71% • Workers, their families and communities will be devastated by loss/transfer of jobs The degrading of mail service to the residents of Tehama County will be devastating to say the least. All your local mail is processed at the Redding Processing facility and returned for next day delivery. With this closure your local mail will now go to Redding, then will be trucked down to W. Sacramento 161 miles away to be processed. Then trucked back another 161 miles to Redding and then trucked back to your community. Keep in mind that Marysville, Modesto, and Stockton mail is also going to W. Sacramento to be processed. Add an extra 3-5 days for delivery of your local mail. The Postal Service is not properly reporting the severity of the reduction of service associated with this consolidation. It is therefore important that citizens, small business, non-profit organizations and local governments get involved to save your local mail service. Senator Boxer, Senator Feinstein and Congressman LaMalfa are all opposed to the closure of Redding Mail Processing Facility. The only way to stop the Postmaster General's insane attack on your local mail delivery is through legislation. This closure also affects Modoc, Siskiyou, Shasta, and Trinity counties. Approximately 300,000 citizens will be without overnight delivery of local mail. Here is what you can do. You can participate in gathering signatures for a petition drive which will be sent to the Senators and the Congressman. This will let them know the 300,000 citizens want their overnight mail delivery. Call 530-223-7552 to request petitions. Please leave your name and address for prompt delivery. For the electronic minded go to facebook.com/savemymailservice to download. Once completed please return to address on bottom of petition. IT IS THE PEOPLE'S POST OFFICE, LET'S SAVE IT!
