Donor Plaque Arriving Soon The Bonds of Brotherhood campaign donor plaque has been ordered and will soon be proudly displayed in the Chapter House. Thank you again to all the donors for their support. As we continue to collect the final pledge commitments, our housing committee will reconvene and look for additional improvements to enhance the educational experience of the actives. We'll certainly keep everyone posted as plans are formed. Volunteer Opportunities Available With the conclusion of the first major capital campaign in recent memory, the AVC is committed to refocusing on the development and mentorship of the active members. We continue to work with our National Fraternity to recruit alumni volunteers, parent volunteers, and others for both AVC and mentor positions. The AVC leadership has had several meetings with our new district governor, Will Rochfort, California Beta Beta '04, and new regional director, Austin Chapman, Michigan Theta '14, to review potential candidates to fill these important positions. Our chapter counselor Don Morris, Iowa Beta '78, now in his second year at the Chapter, continues to do an outstanding job with the actives, supporting the Executive Board and providing valuable leadership. Promoting Leadership We also promote the attendance of the numerous leadership training opportunities and programs offered through the Fraternity. Programs like EDGE, held this year in Granby, Colorado, Ruck Leadership Institute, and Carlson Leadership Academy are supported by our CO Alpha scholarship programs. Again, this support would not be possible without the generous support of our alumni. If you have not been to the SigEp website in a while, I encourage you to do so and find out more about these programs and all the SigEp has to offer. Housing Remains Priority The AVC continually assesses the housing needs of our active members. We understand the necessity of remaining competitive in Balanced Man Scholarship winner Davey Haddad with Vice President of Recruitment Damion Templeton '16. T he Balanced Man Scholarship dinner was held August 24 at the Chapter House. Over 60 Colorado Alpha brothers attended, as well as special guests District Governor Will Rochfort, California Beta Beta '04, Grand Chapter Treasurer Chris Bittman '85, and Regional Director Austin Chapman, Michigan Theta '14. The event included presentations of the Balanced Man Scholarship and the Pericles Scholarship. Read more about the Pericles Scholarship and this year's winner on page 2. For the first time in nearly seven years, Colorado Alpha successfully ran the Balanced Man Scholarship program. Damion Templeton '16 and Marc Simpson '16 were integral to the success of the program, personally contacting high schools in the state of Colo- rado to get applications out. The brothers narrowed the field of 50 applicants down to 15 interviews, and then se- lected the three winners, Dav- ey Haddad, Dylan Garneau, and James DeLaHaye. The Balanced Man Scholar- ship is designed for incom- ing freshmen to CU Boulder. Congratulations, Scholarship Recipients Balanced Man Scholarship Dinner Held in August Balanced Man Scholarship winner James DeLaHaye with Damion Templeton '16. (Continued on page 4)
