www.cityoffayetteville.org Business Spotlight Welcome Back Known as the healthy alternative in Fayetteville at lunch and dinner time, The Fresh Café at 212 Hay Street has a great audience for all things vegetarian and organic along with other entrees such as quiches, wraps, sandwiches and more. The Fresh Café also hosts Acoustic and Poetry nights on the 1st and 3rd Russell Street! Of course, Russell Street and the businesses lining the road have not gone anywhere, but they certainly are a lot prettier these days. For over two years, DOT has worked diligently to smooth out the pavement and make it easier for travelers. Fast forward to the end of construction and Russell Street has a new life with brick lined streets, new pavement, underground power lines and vibrant businesses. It is still a section of Downtown Fayetteville. To celebrate, we have planned a Grand Re-introduction and Ribbon Cutting for this 4th Friday, August 26, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Russell and Maxwell Streets. Guest speakers will include NCDOT Chief Chavonne and City Manager Dale Iman. A reception will be held at the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum beginning at 6:30 p.m. Entertainment will be tied in with 4th Friday activities including Arts Alive at 4th Friday and the Downtown Fayetteville Farmer's Market as well as open houses for the businesses on West Russell Street. Let's join to give West Russell Street our support as they showcase their "new look." Thursday of each month from 6-9 p.m. encouraging patrons to bring an instrument or poetry and they have an Art workshop with Sandra Dee Nicholson every 1st and 3rd Saturday from 3-6 p.m. Supplies such as a canvas, paint and brush are provided and well as snacks for a small fee of $30-40 (depending on size of canvas chosen). They have also started serving on Friday and Saturday nights until 3 a.m. so that folks enjoying the downtown entertainment scene those nights can grab a bite before heading home. Hours of operation are Monday- Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Visit the Fresh Café on Facebook for more information.
