Always Alpha Phi 6 Silent Chapter Rosemary Wiseman Sparks '45, Clinton, Iowa, entered the Silent Chapter on September 8, 2013. She and her husband, John, were married in 1949 in Des Moines. Rosemary was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Antiquers, the Clinton Art Association, the Creative Writers Club, Tri-S Womens Club, and an Agatha volunteer. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn, two grandchildren, and a great-grandson. Rosemary Craig Logan '48, Cape Girardeau, Mo., entered the Silent Chapter on March 14, 2013, at age 84. She earned a degree in French and worked in her father's real estate business after college. Rosemary and her husband, Jim, were the owners and operators of Logan's Nursery and Landscaping from 1960 to 1974. She started her third career as a travel agent with Perry Travel, managing Gulliver's Travel and helping start Destinations Unlimited before retiring in 1994. Rosemary was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Southeast Health Auxiliary, the first Food Pantry, and Meals on Wheels. Dorothy Diehl Hunter '52, Nacogdoches, Texas, entered the Silent Chapter on April 3, 2014. Dorothy was a longtime educator, teaching primary grades. She was also a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Dorothy was an avid reader and word puzzle fanatic who possessed an almost photographic memory when it came to "useless trivia." She and her husband, Warren, enjoyed many of their retirement years RVing and visited 48 of 50 states. Dorothy DeVilbiss Pierson '56 entered the Silent Chapter on December 17, 2013, in Albuquerque, N.M. Dorothy earned degrees from both the University of Missouri and the University of New Mexico. She taught high school in St. Louis and later in Albuquerque. Following her retirement from teaching, she was the office manager for the Ethics Program at the UNM School of Medicine. She continued to teach and mentor others long after her retirement. Dorothy loved her family, her friends, and her pets. She enjoyed music, languages and travel, and was a longtime member of the University Chorus at UNM. Dorothy is survived by her children: Kathryn, Steve, and Eric, and seven grandchildren. Alumnae Update _____________________________________________1940s Charlotte Karl Walker '47, Dallas, Texas, was recognized as a 45-year member at the National Federation of Press Women's convention in June. Frances Hardy Hoxworth '49 has four children and seven grandchildren. She and her husband, Gerald, live in Belle, Mo. _____________________________________________1950s Carol Prettyman '57 resides in Harrisonville, Mo., in the home built by her great-great-grandfather. It is a National Register property and open for tours by appointment. Carol has been very involved in the preservation of Missouri history and in February was recognized by the Cass County Historical Society as Preservationist of the Year. She volunteers at the local hospital and works with the care team at her church. She shares, "I love dancing and country dances. I'm a breast cancer survivor and in very good health!" Recently she went to Morocco, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Ukraine. She has completed 20,000 volunteer hours at Virginia Beach General Hospital and is a docent at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center. "My best to all of my Alpha Phi sisters." She also saw the 100th birthday celebration of her mother-in-law in June and helped type up 100 of her recipes for a cookbook given out at the party. The cookbook included photos and family history. Linda and Lee spend their winters in Florida, where they see one of their daughters and her family. They have three children: Eric, Molly, and Sydney, and six grandchildren. Gloria lives in Florence, Ore. _____________________________________________1970s Louann Quattrocchi Frizzell '71 lives on a small ranch in Sierra Vista, Ariz., with her husband, Ray. They raise alpacas, dairy goats, chickens, and livestock guardian dogs. She also works at the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center as a surgical technologist, a job she has been doing since 1975.
