DePauw Phi THE I N D I A N A Z E T A C H A P T E R O F P H I D E L T A T H E T A INDIANA ZETA CELEBRATES AWARD-WINNING YEAR A s the men have returned to campus, new hardware greeted them in the card room trophy case. Phi Delta Theta was named a DePauw Chapter of Excellence and was awarded the Gold Star, GHQ Trophy, and Founders Trophy runner-up from the International Fraternity. Awards Chairman and varsity tennis player Nick Thompson '16 was recognized as DePauw's rising Greek leader and Phi Delt was recognized as having the campus Greek advisor of the year. Each of these honors represents the hard work and campus engagement present within the halls of the Chapter. The leadership has embraced an outward focus while maintaining a high level of friendship, sound learning, and moral rectitude. As for the facility itself, the generosity of Indiana Zeta alumni has allowed us to continue making important improvements and upgrades to our home. Nearly $1 million has been spent or committed thus far. New steps, limestone retaining wall, professional landscaping and custom flagpole welcome all to Old Gold. As we are at the entrance to campus, newfound pride has enveloped undergraduates and alumni alike. As mentioned before, we made vital safety improvements to the house—installing a sprinkler system, and addressing much-needed maintenance like replacing the roof and repairing the brick and mortar around the house. In addition, we were able to provide some inviting meeting and study areas for the men by remodeling the main foyer, card room, library, and Chapter room, and adding new study space in the basement. Last summer the courtyard was replaced and a dining room remodel had just been completed. New energy- efficient glass and doors now frame the dining room with new floor, furniture, and service areas. This fall, an air conditioning master plan will be approved by the House Corporation to ensure health and a competitive position on campus. As always, if you have any interest in volunteering on the House Corporation, Chapter Advisory Board, or just being a mentor to the undergraduates, please contact one of us. If you are coming back for Old Gold October 2-4 or other events on campus, please let us know so we can alert the Chapter. They love showing visitors around, and you'll enjoy meeting these bright and engaged young men.
