CityViewNC.com | 15 e first stop was Dreamland Barbeque in Bir- mingham, Alabama. at was our first target because so many of my friends had bragged about how good it was. So we found a Dreamland location that was closest to I-20 and then found a hotel near there. We arrived at the hotel at 5:00 p.m. on ursday June 13th and went to eat at 7:00 p.m. All this was done using our GPS maps on our phones. My grandson drove most of the time and I was the navigator. e next stop was Oxford, Mississippi, home of "Ole Miss" (University of Mississippi). Marshall wanted to visit the campus and see their tennis facil- ity. A friend of his dad attended Ole Miss and told us to go to e Rib Cage restaurant in downtown Oxford. e ribs there ranked on the top of Marshall's list dur- ing our trip. We decided to alter our planned route and go to Memphis and cross the Mississippi River there, this being done with our GPS map soware. Once we arrived in Little Rock it was all tennis for three days. On Sunday night, my grandson wanted to treat me to some Arkansas barbeque for Father's Day. We had heard about Whole Hog as a famous place in the city. However, we didn't check to see if it was open on Sunday night. We found out it was closed when we ar- rived. Marshall was determined to eat ribs so he found an- other place on the other side of Little Rock called Corky's. I had actually eaten at the first Corky's in Memphis twenty years before. So with our GPS's in hand we headed there. ey had my favorite ribs on the entire trip. With the tennis being over on Sunday, we planned on leav- ing at 6:30 Monday morning and eating lunch in Nashville. We searched and found a popular place that was highly rated called Jack's, located in downtown Music City. We got there before the big lunch rush and it was fantastic. e ribs were good, as was the pulled pork, but not as good as Corky's the night before. Next stop was Asheville to spend the night before going on 910-868-2121 | 400 Westwood Shopping Center Suite 100 | Fayetteville, NC 28314 Building & Selling Dreams for Tomorrow…Today! When we were about 25 miles outside Knoxville on I-40 the traffic came to a standstill. Marshall got on the map soware and found a route through the countryside that came out back on I-40, 20 miles past Knoxville. All this happened in a matter of minutes and it worked perfectly. We saw some love- ly mountain vistas and drove through some small country towns. We arrived in Asheville and immediately found our final barbeque place, Moe's, near Biltmore Estate. It was ex- cellent and this completed our barbeque journey, all planned with our iPhone apps. It was a trip I will always remember with my grandson as we shared technology and barbeque.
