Kappa Kappa Gamma 3 Krista Kincaid Keogh ' 94 Values Skillset Learned in Kappa K rista Kincaid Keogh '94 always knew she wanted to go Greek. Past National President Eleanore "Goodie" Goodridge Campbell, University of Colorado, Beta Mu '22, would talk to Krista about Kappa when she was growing up. "When I was an active member, I got to celebrate Goodie's 90th birthday with my key pinned to my dress. It was pretty special," Krista said. As an undergraduate, Krista remembers wearing her letters around campus with pride and enjoying Monday night formal dinners. "I loved that all the Greeks had that in common," Krista said. Krista received a bachelor's degree in sports medicine from CSU as well as a master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Denver. She is now the activities director at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado. She is responsible for overseeing all extracurricular activities at Cherry Creek, which includes over 100 student groups/ organizations. She also teaches student government, plans graduation, and conducts teacher evaluations. Krista feels that her career path was largely influenced by her time in Kappa. She recalls volunteering with chapter members in a fifth grade science classroom. After graduating from CSU and obtaining her master's and teaching license from DU, she taught middle and high school science, "I think that I chose my career largely due to my involvement in the volunteer program," she said. Opportunities for leadership were Krista's greatest take-away from living in the chapter house. She held several chapter officer positions, including alumni relations, song chairman, marshal, new member educator, and she also served as Panhellenic Council secretary, treasurer, and vice president. She feels that the leadership skills she possesses today are a direct result of applying herself to these roles in the chapter. While serving as the alumnae relations chairman, Krista had the opportunity to work closely with local alumnae and advisors. She feels lucky to have had the chance to learn from these influential Kappas, including Tshudy Schmidt '65, Louise Meiman '61, Carol Bruton, Kansas State, Gamma Alpha '52, Ravelle Kundinger, SMU, Gamma Phi '46, Barb Goettleman, Syracuse, Beta Tau '86, and Karen Albin, Missouri, Theta '62. Krista has stayed involved with Kappa as an alumna. She previously served on the advisory board at CU Boulder and is involved in the alumnae association in Denver as the reference chairman and webmaster. She encourages alumnae to get involved with Kappa. "Whether it's through the alumnae association, the advisory/house board, or volunteering for events, Just do your best to reconnect in any way you can. I am so lucky to have Kappa in my life, and I want to give back to the organization that helped me become who I am today," she said. Krista and her husband, Tyler, live in Lone Tree, Colorado, with their two children, Madison (8) and Reed (5). She has high hopes for her daughter to go Greek one day. "Whichever organization she chooses, I want her to have the opportunity to build amazing friendships and gain lifelong skills like I did as a Kappa," Krista said. In her free time, Krista enjoys playing golf, skiing, yoga, and reading. You can contact her at keoghkrista@gmail.com. Krista Kincaid Keogh '94 (second from left) at a breast cancer survivor party. SISTERS CONNECT AT CONVENTION— "DEEP IN THE HEART OF KAPPA" D eep in the Heart of Kappa," the theme of Kappa Kappa Gamma's 70th biennial convention held in Houston, Texas, brought collegiate and alumnae Kappa sisters from chapters in the U.S. and Canada together June 25-28. Five collegiate women and four alumnae from Epsilon Beta arrived at Denver International Airport in our Colorado Kappa t-shirts and were delighted with the smiles and acknowledgements we received during our flight to Houston. I like to think that we sparkled with our Epsilon Beta pride as we attended workshops and shopped together. Whether we were all wearing our cowboy boots, white dresses, or our blue and blue pashminas, I was continually amazed by the manner in which Kappa Kappa Gamma unifies and inspires our members. Being surrounded by such a large group of Kappas provided a most meaningful opportunity for me to seek and find other Epsilon Beta alumnae. There was just something so special about noticing "Epsilon Beta, Colorado State" on name badges, and the moment of recognition always brought smiles, hugs, and an exchange of memories. I was so proud to introduce these EB Kappas to our collegiate members and our two leadership consultants, Kat Jaeger '10 and Emily Blake '09—blending the past with the future, and developing new support and friendships. We attended presentations to help us get "All Phired Up"; we heard the personal stories of our amazing "Women of Service, Women of Distinction" Alumnae Achievement Awards; and we listened as our Kappa founders attended "The View." We respectfully studied the Heritage Museum displays and imagined the stories behind the vintage Key badges. The 2014 convention experience provided a focus and motivation, which inspired collaboration among Kappas of all ages. I was honored to be able to attend our 2014 convention and delighted to be a part of such a dynamic team of collegiate and alumnae representing Epsilon Beta!
