"The opportunity to help build a new lodge doesn't happen every day; this is your chance to be part of Delta Gamma forever." T he anchor is the most widely recognized symbol of the Delta Gamma Fraternity. The traditional symbol for hope, founders Anna Boyd Ellington, Eva Webb Dodd, and Mary Comfort Leonard sought to maintain high ideals and standards and to encourage intellectual growth and service in order to exemplify college women at their best. Our founders were able to create a sisterhood that has stood the test of time because they believed in our organization's ideals and worked together. They understood the value of each woman doing her part to ensure their goals were accomplished. Gamma Xi Chapter has been initiating Delta Gamma members since 1953. As each Gamma Xi sister experiences the same love from sisters for a lifetime, not every sister's journey to Delta Gamma is the same. Dr. Christina Belle-Henry '11 wasn't able to go through recruitment when she was an undergraduate. She was introduced to Gamma Xi Chapter when she was invited to be a guest speaker to discuss women's health and career aspirations. The undergraduate women asked Christina what sorority she had been in and when they heard she had never joined Greek life they knew she had to be a member of Delta Gamma. In 2011 Christina was initiated as an alumna. She immediately found a place in Gamma Xi by serving as the vice president of programming for alumnae members, attending convention for the first time, and donating to the capital campaign. "I really enjoy being a part of a collective body of women who are Doing Good for their community." When Christina came to #5 Greek Circle she saw that the women were cramped in their living situation. She saw plans to rebuild the chapter house, and knew she wanted to be involved and the home away from home room project caught her attention. "Everybody should give from the heart. I don't know everyone's situation, but these plans are the future of Gamma Xi and you can be part of the future by contributing to the new home. Make a good decision on what you can give. The opportunity to help build a new lodge doesn't happen every day; this is your chance to be part of Delta Gamma forever." Christina is an OB/GYN in Lubbock, Texas, working at Women's Health Associates, but she cares for patients at several facilities, including Covenant Women's and Children's Hospital, Covenant Medical Center, University Medical Center, and two surgical centers in the area. She is married to Twain Henry, and they have two children, Twain II and Eden. Christina enjoys traveling and has recently been to Tahiti and Vancouver; she also loves spending time with friends and karaoke.
