Not only are we currently building a brand new, state-of-the-art, 45,000-square-foot chapter home, but our chapter is growing at an outstanding rate! Last year our chapter grew to more than 315 members and we expect to have record recruitment this August as well. Speaking of our new home, it's really beginning to take shape. Construction on the third floor began in mid-June on 780 Paul Bryant Drive. We may be a teensy bit biased, but we promise it will be the most beautiful sorority house on the UA campus. Stop by the new house on your next visit and see how much progress we've made. To celebrate the new house opening, the House Corporation Board would love for you all to join us for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony in 2015. We will be announcing detailed plans soon for this monumental event in Epsilon Lambda's history. It is sure to be something you won't want to miss! Our social media presence is also generating buzz about the new house. I hope you have had a chance to support us online by liking our Facebook page and following our Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest pages. Your support gives Gamma Phi Beta-Alabama a larger presence, which in turn lets more people know about the great accomplishments of our members, alumnae and chapter. Plus, it gives you a special behind-the-scenes look at the building of our new home. We recently announced some exciting plans for commemorating donations to the new house. Show your dedication to Epsilon Lambda by selecting a commemorative brick, paver, locker plaque or other unique naming opportunity at the new chapter house! Please use the enclosed pledge form to make your gift today. You can also visit www.gammaphihcb.com for more details. Remember, all donations made to our project through the University of Alabama are tax deductible. We've hosted several events the past few months celebrating major milestones in our chapter's history, including our annual Homecoming event, 25th anniversary and the new house topping out ceremony. Were you unable to make it? Don't worry we'll have at least one event each semester for alumnae, collegians, parents and friends to attend. Our 2013 Homecoming event was celebrated with more than 75 alumnae, collegians, parents, and friends. Guests viewed a sample of the brick that will compose the façade of the new house. Stay tuned for a special opportunity for families (including children!) to attend a tailgating event on the quad for our 2014 Homecoming event. Our 25th anniversary celebration was held in February to celebrate the chapter's founding in 1989. More than 100 gathered at the Cypress Inn Pavilion to enjoy good food, music by Z and the Party Faktory, dancing, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. A few t-shirts from the event are still available. If you would like one, please e-mail us at gammaphihcb@ yahoo.com. Our official topping out ceremony was held on April 26. More than 150 Gamma Phis signed a steel beam that was then hoisted permanently into place on the front of the new house to commemorate the steel construction phase. We continued the celebration back at the chapter house with a DJ, food from Urban Cookhouse, and Gigi's cupcake cookies for dessert. Construction for Gamma Phi Beta's new home is underway. This is a view from Paul Bryant Drive. Please stay tuned for other special events surrounding construction of the new facility.
