Between the anger of local politicians, parents rightfully upset at the local superintendent, and power outages in 110 degree heat, it's easy to get frustrated. But what do we do about it all? Some say, "chop wood, carry water." In other words, life goes on whether you're angry or happy. Some accuse me of being out of touch with my negative thoughts and emotions. I guess I'm a bit old fashioned. I just know that my not-so-good feelings are short-lived and, as with the weather in Or- egon, just wait fi ve minutes and it will change. Maybe that's the part about "letting go" of those things which you have no control over, mentioned in the quote above. We try to balance the four parts of the circle life; spiritual, physical, mental and emotional It's when we get stuck or the wheel gets a "fl at tire" so to speak, that life seems out-of-sorts. When we remember to breathe and fi ll up those areas of our lives that are unbalanced, the wheel becomes full and whole again. Maybe that's why Desert Mes- senger has never publicly "endorsed" a particular candidate. Just wait 4 years, it'll change. Besides, why would I want to alienate anyone in the community which I call home? I'll just keep on breathing and living fully, while letting go of those things that truly just piss me off! Oops! Time to breathe deep....ahh... much better! In the end, these things matter most: How well did you love? How fully did you live? How deeply did you let go? ~Jack Kornfield's Buddha's Little Instruction Book Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra comes to Quartzsite Just Rambling... Provided by Elmer London, Quartzsite and Desert Messenger If you want a cold shower, I recommend going north of I-10. Perhaps Peach Springs or Seligman. Seligman is nice; they have a deep well with plenty of water, brought to them courtesy of the railroad. If you would rather travel, anything north of Nebraska is okay. SAVE THE DATE! March 7, 2015! Organizers of The GRAND Gather- ing just announced Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra Directed by Bill Tole will be performing on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Nancy Knorr will be the featured vocalist during the "Senior Prom", an evening of music and dancing to the famous Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra Di- rected by Bill Tole. The 2014 Grand Gathering was a cel- ebration of Grand Parents and Great Grand Parents which was presented by the Quartzsite Improvement Associa- tion, the oldest non-profi t organization in Quartzsite; and, Proud Neighbors of Quartzsite, the youngest non-profi t organization in Quartzsite. Last year, the focus of the event was a Guinness World Records Attempt. 631 excited participants created the world's largest "human" letter "Q." The result is a des- ignation as an Offi cial Guinness World Record! The Grand Gathering also in- cluded a Senior Fair with vendors; Bin- go; live entertainment with: Rex Allen Jr., Paul Winer, Beyond The Ashes Gos- pel Group, and local "Jammers."; The Annual Rockin' In Quartzsite Rock Auc- tion of hand-painted fl agstone artworks, and great community cooperation. This year, on March 6, 7, 8, 2015, the focus of The Grand Gathering is, "The Legacy." The Legacy will be your op- portunity to learn how to document important family information you have always wanted to impart to your chil- dren...but have never had the time... until now! Learn how to create a Fam- ily Tree; a Family Health History; Re- cord Stories (lore) about your Family; fi nd out about your "Human Genome," which can trace your blood line back to the stone age; and, Participate in Health Screening at our free Health Fair by La Paz Regional Hospital and County Health Dept. The fun does not end there! Enjoy great, reasonably-priced meals pre- pared by the QIA volunteers. Also cele- brate the special 50th Anniversary Din- ner of the QIA. Paul Winer will provide his Boogie Woogie and Blues Concert. Purchase hand-made crafts at our Craft Fair. Have fun while creating a living Legacy for your family!
