Manager Paul Carnevale came up with the idea for car enthusiasts who have restored classic, vintage or antique vehicles to bring them down to the sta- tion and show them off. The fi rst time they did it over 40 vehicles showed up, everything from cars, trucks, motor- cycles, even tractors were parked all around the front and sides of the sta- tion, and over a hundred people came out to look them over and talk to the owners. The Shell Station owner Barret Covinginton, from Blythe, got into the spirit of the event as well, and the Shell Station became the place to be on a hot summer's night that year. They of- fered special prices on hot dogs, foun- tain drinks and ice cream, and helped with the free raffl es for door prizes that had donated items given out. This event brought families, car enthusiasts and visitors from all over, and become so popular that they continued it over the winter months as well, when even more people showed up with their vehicles for the winter. Now, it is three years later, and it is still going so strong that people are coming from all over the county with their vehicles to show them off. They still have quite a gathering of lookie loos come out to see what is there, and the Shell Station still offers their specials on hot dogs, drinks and ice cream. So, if you have nothing else to do on a hot summer's night (or any other Saturday night they have it), please come down to the Shell Station and join in all the fun--the next dates coming up are August 16, August 30, September 13 and Sept. 27. Be sure to mark your calendars for this fun event and have a great time. Get Texts from Sheriff's office Across from McDonald's • Quartzsite NEED CASH? Jim Buys STERLING SILVER!
