OPINION letters to the editor DON'T BE FOOLED BY FOSTER Don't be Fooled by Mayor Ed Fos- ter and his Supporters' Deceptive Claims. It's no secret Mayor Foster and supporters continually try to: embarrass Quartzsite in media, disband Police, block sewer im- provements, block Water/Sewer in- creases (so it's not self-sustaining), fire new Town Manager, bankrupt and disincorporate Quartzsite. Many feel Foster and others want Quartzsite disincorporated and lawless. Foster and supporters said once Gilbert and Taft were removed, they'd stop their belliger- ence. How's that working for ya'? Quartzsite's search for an edu- cated, qualified Town Manager was something positive to celebrate! Even while doing excellent work, Foster (begging for a lawsuit) claims Miller's overpaid so should be fired. Arizona League of Cities and Towns City/Town Manager's average salary by population: 2,000-4,999=$82,267, high=$115,676. 5,000-9,999=$109,496, high=$151,110. 10,000-49,000=$138,598, high=$190,563. • Birth • Obituary • Anniversary Place it FREE in the: Desert Messenger! 928-916-4235 Got something to share? Get our Snowbirds and Vendors Back! SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS! Help trailer parks with sewer & water fees and stop the over taxaon!! MY BACKGROUND INCLUDES 40 YEARS CRIMINAL JUSTICE EXPERIENCE • Marine Corps • San Diego Police Officer • California Highway Patrol • Teacher of Law Enforcement • Juvenile Hall Retired • Restaurant Owner/Operator August 26th 50,000+=$175,468, high=$257,670, many likely with- out MPAs. Larger Cities offer expe- rienced, educated managers more because they deliver big savings, such as preventing lawsuits! Skylor Miller's salary is $90,000. His credentials: experienced, diplo- matic, MPA (Masters Public Ad- ministration). His Planning/Zon- ing expertize allowed taking over Planning/Zoning Directorship, sav- ing Quartzsite about $70,000+ben- efits! Laura Bruno received $96,356/year without municipal education/experience. Palo Verde Times reported on 9/28/2010, that the Blythe Manager received $241,969 including benefits. ADEQ won't allow new Quartzsite business without sewer improve- ments, which was blocked by Foster's lawsuit financed by 15 RV Parks. This lawsuit could cause losing large grants and huge cost increases. There's no formal proposal for taking over Quartzsite's Police. The Sheriff Department's take- over/startup would likely cost $1,000,000. Foster conveniently omitted that 7-figure detail. Does anyone think the County or Sheriff John Drum listens to Quartzsite concerns? Are we better off being ruled and policed by the County, without a real voice? Apparently those on "Foster's ticket", (Norm Simpson, Loretta Warner, Hal Davidson, Bradley Trainer) support/endorse "Fos- ter's plans for Quartzsite", since they allowed their name associ- ated with him. Quartzsite citizens are finally re- ally coming together as evidenced on July 4th. This is not the time to leap backwards. Dr. Ronald Jones Year-round Quartzsite citizen THANK YOU Thank you Bobby, of Paradise RV Park; he came super quick and found where a big problem was going to cause some issues; rewiring the kitch- en, because of electric shorts, re-do- ing the ceiling fan, and water/swamp cooler filters. Thank you to Norm, of Mountain Quail Cafe, for sending some guys to cutting down on the palm trees to save my mobile home. Glenda Hines Quartzsite INDEPENDENTS CAN VOTE Independents are now the largest voting block in Arizona, meaning they have the potential to have huge sway over the outcome of any particular race. That is, if they vote. Many independents mistakenly believe they can't vote in the pri- mary. But that's just not true. Independent voters simply need to request the ballot of their choice — Republican, Democrat, Libertar- ian, or Americans-Elect — to make their voice heard. Please consider the qualifica- tions of the candidate you're vot- ing for; don't vote just because of friendship.
