ometime in the sweltering
days of August, a group of
dedicated musicians digs out
the alpine hats, bundhose
and dirndls. The rest of
the year they are doctor,
dentist, teacher, guidance counselor and
orchestra leader, but for 10 weeks every
fall, the Bavarian Brass Band reunites to
celebrate the high life.
It has to be said that these talented
men and women play music of all genres:
country, big band, easy listening and even
rock but during the Oktoberfest season,
their bread and butter consists of polkas,
waltzes and marches. It's the kind of
October means Oktoberfest – oompah music,
leg-slapping Bavarian polkas and when the beer
flows, everybody's favorite Chicken Dance.
