CONCERT Melissa Etheridge coming to Redding's Cascade The Tehama County Photo Club is once again hosting the Images from a Glass Eye International Juried Photography Show Aug. 8 through Oct. 17 at the Tehama Country Vis- itor Center, 250 Antelope Blvd. in Red Bluff. The show will feature photographers from around the world as well as some of the best in the north state. A free public artist recep- tion will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday Aug. 8 at the Visitor Center. Awards will be pre- sented that night as follows: Best in Show $1,500, $500 for second place, $250 for third place and four awards of merit of $100. Those attending the Grand Opening Artist Re- ception will have a chance to meet some of the local artist in the show as well as juror, Ibarionex Perello, a photographer, writer ed- ucator and host of The Candid Frame Photogra- phy pod cast. He has more than 25 years of experience in the photographic indus- try. His pod casts provide frank, insightful interviews with some of the industry's top established and emerg- ing photographers. The club will have a lim- ited edition calendar for sale featuring the work of local photographers and club members Robert Bird, Ninette Bird, Bob Grace, Clare Jones-Carbonell, Pa- tricia Kelley, Jack Kirchert, Stephanie Luke, Barbara Luzzader, Tony Maxey, Bruce Perkin, Joel Rein- hard, and Adam Wyman. The calendars will be $15 with all proceeds going to support next year's contest and show. RECEPTION Orland gallery to host 26 artists The Tehama District Fairground and Crown Camera of Redding are of- fering a photography class at 10 a.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds' floriculture building. The $10 class fee includes the entry fee for the Crown Camera photo contest. The store is a sponsor of the Te- hama District Fair, and the winner will receive a $100 prize. Class attendees will also receive a discount card to be used at the store for prints used in the con- test during the 2014 Wild Ride Tehama District Fair, scheduled Sept. 25-28. The class is open to all. The limit in the photo con- test is two entries per exhib- itor. Photos entered in this division many not be en- tered in any other photog- raphy division. Photos must have been taken within the year preceding the fair, and they must be matted, sin- gle or double with backing board. The photo size is 8 by 10 inches through 11 by 14 inches.
