pg. 3 Alpha Theta Delta BroTherhood efforTs Bring success To The AlphA Members Pledge $50,000 to Building on a Tradition of Excellence Campaign T heta Delta has had another amazing year with great success and accomplishments. We received our 11th Thayer Award at the end of last year and used our success to build on this year. Our recruitment chairmen last summer did an outstanding job of recruiting a 20-man new member class. This year's pledge class has done an amazing job: they had the highest new member GPA (3.44) last fall and all 20 have now been initiated. The Alpha as a whole has continued its academic success, receiving a 3.39 GPA last fall and being in the top three fraternities in academics. PHILANTHROPIC SUCCESS Our success in philanthropy continued this year with Brother Alex Hopkins '17 representing us in AGD's Mr. Greek competition. He was able to raise more than $7,000 and take home first place. This year in Delta Gamma's Anchor Splash competition, we were represented by Brother Devon Phillips '17, who was finally able to break our streak of second place and take home the victory by raising $2,900. Both of these gentlemen worked hard and did a fantastic job representing our Alpha, but it was a full brotherhood effort to help support them throughout the entirety of the philanthropy events. In our Stuff the Bus philanthropy, we had great success and broke our record from last year. We collected 10,510 lbs. of food and raised $4,200, which equates to a little over 25,600 meals. That is 5,500 more than last year and 8,000 more meals than 2012. IFC AWARDS At last winter's IFC awards we continued our success and took home eight awards including: Outstanding Philanthropy Involvement, Outstanding New Member Programming, Outstanding Chapter Programming, Chapter Management, Outstanding Recruitment Programming, and Chapter of the Year! Brother Evan Rumpza '16 also won Outstanding New Member and Brother Cody Saben '14 won Greek Man of the Year. SECURING OUR FUTURE We are extremely excited for the future of Theta Delta! The support that we have seen from our alumni in connection with the Building on a Tradition of Excellence campaign is awe inspiring. Determined to do our part, active members have pledged $50,000 to the campaign. Coming from college students who have little income, I can attest that this is truly a significant commitment. Moreover, many of these pledges are from juniors and seniors who will never get to live in the new annex once it is complete. This just goes to show how strong our commitment is to ensuring our legacy continues at the University of Washington. Yours in the Bonds, Colton Perry '15 #1 chipsipresident@gmail.com Brothers collected 10,510 lbs. of food and raised $4,200, which equates to about 25,600 meals, during this year's Stuff the Bus philanthropy. Brothers compete in a campus basketball contest for the Make a Wish philanthropy. Chi Psi took home first place at Delta Gamma's Anchor Splash philanthropy. Members play pick-up games of basketball at the Lodge. Brothers Cody Saben '14, Chris Feldman '14, and Evan Rumpza '16 at the annual IFC awards. Chi Psi took home eight awards this winter, including Chapter of the Year. Alumni, we appreciate your input in membership selection.
