Stay Cool In The Hot Summer Downtown!
One thing we can all agree on – it has been hot outside! Since we are looking at some warm days
this summer, Downtown Fayetteville has some "hot" tips to keep you feeling cool while having fun.
• First to get you caffeinated or chilled, try an iced coffee, a shake or a fruity smoothie from one of our fabulous
coffee shops downtown including Market Square Coffee Shop at 106 Hay Street, Rude Awakening Coffee
House at 227 Hay Street, Get on Track Nutrition at 212 Hay Street or Marquis Market at 116 Person Street.
• Second, try doing an indoor activity that will keep you active, yet inside the air conditioning. There is pottery
at Greg's Art, Pottery and Gifts at 122 Maxwell Street, a yoga class at Embrace Yoga Studio at 145 Franklin
Street, an indoor climbing course at The Climbing Place at 436 W. Russell Street or Wine and Design at
113 Donaldson Street.
• How about shopping for jewelry! There is nothing like shopping for the sparkly pieces of "ice," "frosting," or
the like to get your mind in a comfortable frame of mind. Try Walter Guy at 220 Hay Street, Twisted Jeweler
at 311 Hay Street or Moonstone Jewelry at 306 Hay Street among others.
• Two words that should be in everyone's vocabulary this summer: ice cream! Local homemade ice cream by
the pint or quart at The Butcher and The Baker at 231 Franklin Street in sweet flavors like roasted butter
pecan or fresh strawberry or a scoop with toppings at Sweet Surprise Candy Buffet at 106 Gillespie Street.
• Take in a movie at the Cameo Theatre at 225 Hay Street or see at show at the Gilbert Theater at
116 Green Street. Two of our favorites!
• Walk around NC Veterans Park and Freedom Memorial Park and then cool off with the great exhibits at the
Airborne and Special Operations Museum at 100 Bragg Blvd.
• Find a great book, take a class or even see a movie in the afternoon at the Cumberland County Headquarters
Library at 300 Maiden Lane. Check out a book to read at Linear Park over your lunch break or bring the kids
to story time!
• Enjoy frosty beverages at our many restaurants along with lighter summer fare such as sandwiches,
salads and wraps. Fried Turkey Shop, Blue Moon, Circa 1800, Huske Hardware House, Beef O' Bradys,
Pierro's or Pierro's Express, The Wing Co. Downtown, Sherefe, Off the Hook Taco Emporium, The Tap
House at Huske and more! Oh, and don't forget a nice glass of wine at The Wine Café at 108 Hay Street.
• Shop in our air conditioned, cute shops full of new merchandise for the summer. Pick up beach totes (that can
be monogrammed), towels, cover-ups, flip-flops, shorts and other summer wear and other fun summery items
perfect for everyday or for a quick weekend getaway. Kindred Hearts at 225 Franklin Street, Gullah Girl at
131 Donaldson Street, The Great American Emporium at 337 Hay Street, So Chic Bebe at 120 Hay Street,
Upscale Consignments at 240 Hay Street and House of Hollywood at 238 Hay Street are a few great places to
shop!
And remember, Festival Park is host to many events this summer including Fayetteville after Five, the
