Fayetteville After 5 Brings Good Times to Festival Park
by ERINN CRIDER
Summer evenings and concerts are a perfect combination. Sitting on
the soft grass with a warm breeze carrying the lively music makes for
a beautiful evening. The fact that it is free only makes it better. The
Fayetteville Dogwood Festival and R.A. Jefferies, a local distributor of
Budweiser, partner every year to give the community the gift of these
amazing summer nights to the community. This month, two amazing
tribute bands will rock Festival Park on July 18.
The first band is Captain & the Keels, a Bee Gees tribute band. They
describe their music as "Yacht Rock" and strive to capture the famous
"smooth" sound
of the time period.
They invite listeners
either let loose and
dance along to the
music or sit back
and let the familiar
smooth feel of the
music relax you. To
create their silky
tones, the band is
comprised of eight
members that provide
the signature horn work and silver vocals. They are primarily a Bee Gee's
tribute band, but they also perform classic hits from performers such as
Billy Joel, Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers. Whether Yacht Rock is an
old favorite or a new love, Captain & The Keels is sure to provide listeners
with an evening of beautiful music. For more information on Captain &
The Keels, visit http://captainandthekeels.com/home.
The second band performing is Heart Brigade. They are a Heart
tribute band. They perform three decades of Heart songs, the '70s, '80s
and '90s, and also some classic Led Zeppelin songs.
Suzi Nelson
is on lead vocals
and Joan Burton
tackles the classic
intense guitar style
of Nancy Wilson, as
well as harmonies
and some lead
vocals. To complete
the sound and
the band, Kevin
Segrist is the lead
guitarist. Amy Hall
plays drums, Jeff
Reynolds on bass
and David Nodine
plays the keyboard.
What sets Heart Brigade apart from is their attention to the entire
performance. Their goal is to perform an authentic Heart concert experience.
Their outfits, the music and the stage display are all carefully crafted to honor
Heart. Rather than being a cover band, each member seeks to honor the
music that they truly love. For more information on the band, visit http://
heartbrigadeband.com.
The gates of Festival Park will open at 5 p.m. Music will begin between 5:30
p.m. and 6 p.m. and last until 10:30 p.m. No outside foods or beveragesare
permitted in the park. Food and beverages are for sale inside the
park, with proceeds from sales going to The Dogwood Festival.
