Already in 2014 we have received over $511,493 in donations/ pledges from 67 donors, raising our total to $1,678,857. We still have a way to go to reach our goal of $2.8 million, but with the help of over 750 loyal alumni I am positive we will succeed. Our goal for 2014 involves our class leaders who will make personal contact with brothers of their era via letters, e-mail, phone calls, and personal visits to take our campaign for ADZ to all our alumni. We have contact information for more than 750 alumni and the one-on-one personal contact with brothers from our leaders' eras is expected to rekindle those memories of our years at ADZ. Our 2014 experience to date is an indication that many alumni are excited about this project and are willing to help make it a reality. Over 20 alumni attended the 2014 St. Pat's board meeting on Saturday, March 15. Several alumni assisted in recruitment and installed lighting in the second-floor hall to help. Eleven men have signed for the fall semester and many others have bid cards. The Chapter has been more active this year than ever before. We all lived in our Fraternity house. You are the only one who can place a value on your Lambda Chi membership—the lifelong friendships you made and the many ways ADZ enhanced your years in Rolla. Now is our turn to repay ADZ, ensuring that the same memorable experience is available to others. If you have not made a contribution, please use the enclosed pledge card and do so now. Won't you consider a three- or five-year pledge of $2,500, $5,000, or more? It's a small amount for all you have experienced at ADZ. (Continued on page 3) A s a Lambda Chi Alpha legacy, Mike Johnson '81 took a lot of pride in following in his father's footsteps. His dad, Roy Johnson, Georgia Tech '52, had an enjoyable experience in LCA, so it made sense that Mike rushed at MS&T his freshman year. "During the summer between high school and college, I was rushed in St Louis. The members I met from Alpha- Delta Zeta were very welcoming and presented the Chapter well. It had a good balance of social and community service aspects, so I felt it would be a good fit.' My best friend from high school, Rob Steinhoff '80, also decided to pledge ADZ, which made it a pretty easy decision." Coming out of high school, most students (including Mike) weren't concerned with responsibilities as much as having fun. Lambda Chi did its part in setting a good example both socially and academically. "Looking back, the older brothers did so much to help me mature even though I fought it at the time," Mike said. "That first semester was nice because we were forced to study and I did ok. The second semester, though, we were on our own in that effort, which gave me the opportunity to fail. It sounds bad, but it was definitely a learning experience." Mike rarely missed a class after that. "My brothers in mechanical engineering helped me immensely. We studied together, played together, and helped each other succeed. Having them there was a huge asset." After graduating, Mike got a job with Trane Company in their technical sales department, and is in his 33rd year there. While he knew going into MS&T that he would major in Mike Johnson '81 helps prepAre lAMbDA chi for the future mechanical engineering, the lessons learned in Lambda Chi taught him a lot. "Alpha-Delta Zeta helped me become more responsible and work on my self-discipline. Also, coupled with Rolla,
