We began the academic year on a strong note by receiving our 13th consecu- tive Buchanan Cup at Conclave in August 2013. UndergradUaTes excel in academics With the start of the fall semester, our under- graduates hit the ground running with recruit- ment. Our fall pledge class added 35 outstanding young men to our brotherhood, including eight of our 12 Balanced Man scholarship recipients. As a chapter, we continued to embody the ide- als of both a sound mind and sound body. Our brothers boasted a chapter GPA of 3.38, plac- ing us second amongst all fraternities on cam- pus. Even more impressive, our new members earned a GPA of 3.44. This is a testament to our commitment to scholarship. OhiO TheTa PrOdUces leaders As leaders, the brothers of Ohio Theta were unmatched among any other organization. More than 90% of our brothers were involved in student groups outside of SigEp, with the aver- age brother being involved in at least two other groups. The outgoing student body president is a SigEp, and a new member was just elected to be an at-large senator for student govern- ment. In just the past few years, brothers have been presidents of the university funding board, McMicken ambassadors, ROAR campus tour guides, Kolozdik business scholars, Cincy Snow Cats ski club members, mortar board, and the Men of Metro. giving Back TO The cOmmUniTy The gentlemen of Ohio Theta have exceled in giving back to our community. Our annual phi- lanthropy, the Ginger Greek House Competition, raised $1,000 and provided four surgeries for underprivileged children. Our SigEp Stromboli event raised $1,200 and helped to fund 20 of our brothers to participate in our annual mission trip to Louisiana with the Fuller Center. This year, over 70 brothers volunteered their trucks and brawn to help with Troop 400's Mulch Move. ThankFUl FOr Family, Friends, and sUPPOrTers Once again these successes have led to the Ohio Theta Chapter earning the title of overall premier chapter at the University of Cincinnati. This marks the second consecutive and the fifth time in the last six years that we have won the award. It is not just the current brothers that have led to these achievements. Alumni, faculty, and volunteers are critical contributors to the chapter, and nowhere is that more clear than our new chapter house renovation and expansion program. Our brothers are beyond excited for the groundbreaking completed this spring.
