ByMikeFitzpatrick TheAssociatedPress NEW YORK Yoenis Cespedes hit a three-run double, slumping Bran- don Moss had a two-run homer and the Oakland Athletics jumped all over an ineffective Zack Wheeler in an 8-5 win over the New York Mets on Wednesday night. Coco Crisp homered and had three hits as the AL West leaders built an eight-run cushion for Brad Mills, who took a shutout into the seventh inning for his first major league victory in almost two years. Oakland rebounded from its most lopsided loss of the season to split the two-game interleague se- ries, boosting the best record in baseball to 48-30. Pinch-hitter Lucas Duda chased Mills with a three-run homer in the seventh. Chris Young connected for a two-run shot in the eighth, his third home run in two nights. Curtis Granderson added three hits for the Mets, who had won three straight and five of six. It was their sixth three-game win- ning streak of the season, but they haven't won four in a row since July 7-10 last year. By Alex Pavlovic apavlovic@bayareanewsgroup.com SAN FRANCISCO With his whirling delivery, whipping hair and occa- sional mustache, Tim Lincecum may be the most distinctive star in Giants history. Now he stands alone in the franchise's record book. Lincecum no-hit the San Diego Pa- dres for the second time in less than a year, becoming the first player in the Giants' San Francisco era to throw multiple no-hitters. Just 347 days after a grueling 148-pitch night at Petco Park, Lincecum needed only 113 to clinch a 4-0 victory that, his- tory aside, was desperately needed by the slumping Giants. The no-hitter was the 16th by a Giants pitcher. Only Lincecum and Hall-of-Famer Christy Mathewson (1901, 1905) have thrown more than one. Ten days after his 30th birth- day, Lincecum owns two World Se- ries rings, two Cy Young Awards and two no-hitters. The list to have pulled that off is just as short, and just as impressive. Only Lincecum and Sandy Koufax have such a resume. "Right now, I guess it's really cool," Lincecum said. "When I get older, I'll be able to reflect on it a little bit more and take it for what it's worth. Right now, I'm still kind of just in the mo- ment." That moment was another bril- liant one. Lincecum had all four pitches working on a foggy day at AT&T Park, flummoxing the light- hitting Padres, dazzling a sellout crowd and lifting teammates while allowing just a second-inning walk and striking out six. As if sensing the gravity of the moment, Lincecum added two hits, doubling his previous season total. "It was the Tim Lincecum show," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He had such great focus. THESCORE By Brian Mahoney The Associated Press NEWYORK Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker aren't NBA players yet and they are already learning their first lesson. This is LeBron James' league and they will just be playing in it. A night before they could be the first two selections in what appears to be a deep NBA draft, Wiggins, Parker and the rest of the class of 2014 were sharing the spotlight with James, whose de- cision to opt out of his contract and become a free agent Tues- day still had the league shaking a day later. Carmelo Anthony has the same plan as James, and right now they are a 1-2 that Wiggins and Parker can't match. "They're going to dictate how this draft goes," Parker said Wednesday. The Cleveland Cavaliers have the No. 1 selection for a second straight year, and either Wiggins or Parker would be an improve- ment over Anthony Bennett, who had a forgettable rookie season. Wiggins, like Bennett, is Cana- dian, and would love to be called first today. "It'd mean a lot to me. It'd mean a lot to my country, too," the freshman from Kansas said. When his Jayhawks team- mate, Joel Embiid, broke his foot, it strengthened the chances of Wiggins going first. Or perhaps it could be Parker, the versatile freshman from Duke. Or, as Parker realizes, perhaps the Cavs will decide a trade is the best option. A deal with Minnesota for Kevin Love would bring the Cav- aliers an All-Star and might make a return to Cleveland more ap- pealing for James. So Parker said he would understand if the Cavs dealt the pick. Perhaps some other team with aspirations of James or Anthony will shake up the draft by mak- ing a move that gets them ready for July 1. "You never know what they want to do," Parker said, "whether organizations want to trade picks to create a little bit more money. So you never know in this busi- ness." Milwaukee picks second, fol- lowed by Philadelphia, Orlando, Utah and a couple teams not used to picking this high: Boston and the Los Angeles Lakers.
