150 YEARS OF THETA XI: Building Alpha's Future Together Theta Xi Fraternity Alpha Chapter Brothers and Alumni 1490 Sage Avenue Troy, New York 12180 Dear Theta Xi Brothers and Alumni, It offers me great pleasure to congratulate you on the 150th anniversary of the Theta Xi Alpha Chapter here at Rensselaer. I would also like to commend you on the recent addition of the Theta Xi Chapter House located on the Rensselaer campus to the National Register of Historic Places. This designation is a testament to the care and pride you have for the fraternity and as stewards of the home. Theta Xi earns a place of distinction as the only fraternity established during the Civil War. As one of the first established fraternities at Rensselaer, Theta Xi has played an important role in our development and history. Theta Xi is part of a dynamic Greek System steeped in tradition that provides our students with a wealth of opportunity for social and philanthropic engagement within the Rensselaer community and beyond. As a leading institution of higher learning, we strongly believe in the value and the tradition that the Greek community brings to Rensselaer. Many of the ideals that the Greek System has promoted throughout the history at Rensselaer are in alignment with our Clustered, Learning, Advocacy, and Support for Students, or CLASS. Through the Greek Life Commons experience, which is part of CLASS, members of the Greek community are afforded the opportunity to live and learn in tight-knit housing communities with a focus on leadership and a greater sense of belonging. For 150 years, Theta Xi has followed a similar approach and embodied a tradition of excellence. Your focus on scholarship, leadership, and community service has helped shape young men into future leaders. As you look toward your next 150 years, I am in support of your efforts to strengthen your organization, as your success is important to the future of Rensselaer. Once again, congratulations on your accomplishments. I look forward to your ongoing contributions to the Rensselaer community. Thank you for being part of Theta Xi and helping to shape the organization it is today. We wish you success as you embark on this next phase. Sincerely, Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D. President Professor of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy Professor of Engineering Sciences
