150 YEARS OF THETA XI: Building Alpha's Future Together E ach of us has contributed to the history of the Alpha Chapter of Theta Xi, and now each of us has an opportunity to invest in the future of the fraternity. At the beginning of this project, a small group of alumni made early commitments and stretched their gifts to demonstrate the importance of this project. We urge each alumnus to do the same and consider making a major gift to the campaign. Tax Benefits. The IRS will allow for the renovation of historical elements of the chapter house with tax-deductible dollars that are gifted to the Society for the Preservation of Greek Housing (SPGH). Gifts to the Society are 100 percent tax deductible to the donor and can only be utilized to support historical renovation plans that have passed a rigorous review process by the SPGH. Funds are disbursed to the alumni association to cover those associated costs. Because the historical elements of the renovation are limited, the campaign board is requesting that the tax-deductible pledges be reserved to those of $10,000 and above. For professional advice, please consult your tax advisor. Matching Gifts and Tax Benefits on Gifts of Securities. If your employer offers a matching gift program, your tax-deductible gift of $10,000 or more may be eligible. Also, gifts of securities are encouraged as there are often significant tax advantages to the donor. For professional advice, please consult your tax advisor. Payment Options. All campaign pledges can be fulfilled as a one-time gift, annual installments, or by quarterly payments spread over a period of up to five years. Recognizing Loyal Donors. Special naming opportunities and a framed campaign memento will be available to alumni offering a gift of $25,000 and above. All donors contributing $2,500 or more will be recognized on a prominently displayed plaque in the chapter house. Unless otherwise requested, donors contributing $1,000 or more to the campaign will be recognized in print publications. Names will appear by category, relative to the size of the gift. Gifts in honor or in memory of brothers, as well as family and pledge class gifts, are welcomed. Recognition in such cases will be given to both the donor and the honoree.
