A Yuba County man and woman were arrested after sheriff’s deputies found the fire station’s property alongside drugs during a traf- fic stop on South Street in Corning. However, the Tehama County Fire Department didn’t even know the items were missing yet, said CalFire investigator Dan Hebard. Kimberly Marie Philpott, 23, of Philpott Olivehurst was the driver of a tan 1993 Oldsmobile Royale when she was stopped by deputies at 11:29 a.m. on South Street at Houghton Avenue, according to sher- iff’s logs. During the stop, deputies saw a bag- gie of marijuana on the front seat, a sher- iff’s press release said. The passenger, Nathan Boyd Ramey, 32, of Yuba City, was first arrested for existing warrants on charges of public intoxication and fail- ure to appear after a written promise, the logs said. Fight for survival Searching the vehicle, they found radios and fire engine equipment in the trunk of the car, the release said. Jamie Mitchell Carter, 39, was sentenced Tuesday in Tehama County Superior Court by Judge John Garaventa, according to the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office. Carter pleaded guilty to one count of oral copulation with a child under 10 in April. He had initially been charged with two counts. By JULIE ZEEB DN Staff Writer Several students from Red Bluff Union High School and Salisbury High School spent Tuesday at the William B. Ide Adobe State Historical Park teaching younger students about life in the 1850s. The students serve as docents on a volunteer basis and the school program is one of many that may not be around if Ide Adobe closes. The park is one of two Tehama County sites on a list of 70 parks released by California State Parks as those slated for closure. While closures are being planned, none is expected to take place before July 2012, a state parks spokesman has said. Law enforcement memorial tonight Every year the law enforcement community in Tehama County memo- rializes the men and women in the state who gave their lives in the line of duty as a California peace officer. The 17th Annual Tehama County Peace Officers’ Memorial Ser- vice will be 7 p.m., today at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 625 Luther Road. The 11 law enforce- ment officers who gave their lives during 2010 in the line of duty through- out the state will be remembered. There will be a time of memory for the two women from the Tehama County law enforcement community who died dur- ing 2010. Lori Partsch, a proba- tion officer with the Tehama County Probation Department, lost her life to cancer on Oct. 20, 2010. Marva Jackson, a sher- iff’s service officer with the Tehama County Sher- iff’s Office, lost her life to cancer on Oct. 27, 2010. The sheriff’s color guard will present the col- ors for the service with the honor guard from the Red Bluff Police Depart- ment performing a 21 gun salute. Corning Police Chief Tony Cardenas will pre- sent the welcome, and Red Bluff Police Chief Paul Nanfito will be the keynote speaker. See FIGHT, page 7A The prelimi- nary hearing for a woman charged with 50 counts of sex abuse was vacated Tues- day after she changed her plea to guilty. Chrissy Ann Dunn, 30, of Corning, plead- ed guilty to one Dunn count of oral copulation with a child under 16 and one count of lewd acts upon a child, according to court documents. She was charged with 20 counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, 10 counts of oral copulation of a person under 16 and 20 counts of lewd acts upon a child. The Corning Police Depart- ment received a report that Dunn was having sex- ual relations with a minor, according to the Tehama County District Attor- ney’s Office. An investiga- tion into the incident was conducted in which officers determined that on numer- ous occasions Dunn had sexual encounters with a 14- year-old boy. Dunn will appear in court at 8 a.m. June 3 for sentencing by Judge Todd Bottke. She remains in cus- tody at Tehama County Jail.
