Strong Changes Being Made for the Future he Indiana Delta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon has reached a turning point. In past years, the chapter has struggled with making a strong, positive impact on DePauw's campus. However, this semester I have been working closely with my executive committee to rebuild the infrastructure of the chapter, from by-laws to risk management plans, and set the stage for the fall semester of 2014. Currently, all executive offices are held by sophomores. We have been working with several alumni who have been mentoring us in creating and maintaining a cohesive chapter. The learning experience has been challenging but incredibly rewarding, and I am confident in the chapter's ability to grow and thrive in coming years. Dorian Shager, the dean of campus life, has also been working with the executive committee to define SAE's future at DePauw. His wisdom has been an invaluable resource in designing the base for the chapter along with establishing our goals. Our vision is to create an establishment of distinct gentlemen who challenge themselves to a higher intellectual and moral standard, a home for the humble, and a haven for the open mind. Recruitment this winter brought the chapter a solid group of gentlemen who are motivated to move us forward. Each new brother brings a unique perspective to the table and a high level of ambition. Everybody is ready to hit the ground running in the fall, as we have our social, philanthropy, and recruitment plans prepped and ready to go. For our remaining time this spring, much of our focus is on DePauw's annual Relay for Life. This winter, Kelley DeNardin, wife of our house corporation president, friend, and brother, Lance DeNardin '86, lost a long, difficult battle with cancer. This year, our chapter will be raising money and walking in honor of Kelley and the DeNardin family. We hope to not only positively affect those still fighting for their lives, but also those personally close to the chapter who have struggled against this tragic disease. The Indiana Delta Chapter is in a transition period, but I know that by the time I graduate in two years, the chapter will be the strongest it has been in years and the work we are doing today will leave a legacy for many more True Gentlemen to come.
