Box 1022 Ames, IA 50014 Address Service Requested TAU TALK ALPHA TAU OMEGA AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY Gamma Upsilon saw success with Dance Marathon by raising $13,500 for Children's Miracle Network. Gamma Upsilon Continues to Grow in Scholarship and Philanthropy R ecent months have been steady but strong for the Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega at Iowa State since the last update. DANCE MARATHON SUCCESS We started the spring semester with yet another fantastic Dance Marathon effort. Dance Marathon is a 15-hour event where you stand the entire time, if you are able, to raise money for children with terminal illnesses. With the help of friends, family, and our alumni, we were able to increase our fundraising by $4,000 to a total of $13,500 to Children's Miracle Network. In total, Iowa State Dance Marathon raised more than $427,000, which is roughly $100,000 more than last year. Most of the members state that this is the highlight of the entire year, and we look forward to another successful Dance Marathon in 2015. If you're interested in learning more about what ATW is doing for Dance Marathon, visit our Dance Marathon page at www.helpmakemiracles.org/ participant/246640. ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS Our scholarship plan has continued from last year's revision. We continue to praise those who achieve above a 3.0 GPA. Last semester, 14 members received scholarships from our foundation at our scholarship dinner for their spring 2013 grades. Additionally, 19 members achieved higher than a 3.0 and we have 22 members eligible for ATW scholarships. This growth is from brothers holding each other accountable and from our scholarship plan that was instilled last year. We are currently ranked 10th out of 23 IFC chapters at Iowa State. We hope to see this improvement continue in years to come to achieve the National Fraternity's True Merit Bowl. RECRUITMENT IN PROGRESS We are continuing the year-round process of recruitment for this semester, and we're gearing up for a big summer of recruitment. If you know of any potential members headed to Ames, please e-mail me their name and contact information and we will be sure to reach out to them about ATW. Our recruitment, scholarship, and philanthropy have all improved greatly over the past semester and we are looking forward to the continuous improvement we have ahead of us. Gamma Upsilon appreciates the continued support from our alumni in order to make Alpha Tau Omega home for our great men. Thanks for all you do.
