In the recent Best of Fayetteville issue, you had the opportunity
to read about some of the "best of the best." Unfortunately, when
spotlighting one of our top winners of the year, The Rock Shop, we
printed the wrong address, phone number and Web site for the music
club.
The many fans who voted the club the Best Venue for Live Music,
Best Club for Live Music, Best Club DJ, Best Jukebox Tunes, Best Bar,
Best Local Bartender and Best Pool Room have been quick to point this
error out to us.
So for any of you not in the know, The Rock Shop is not located on
Fisher Road. It is located at 106 S. Eastern Blvd., just a short drive from
the heart of downtown. The club's phone number is (910) 321-7625 and
its Web site is www.therockshoplive.com.
If you missed out on what we said about The Rock Shop in the Best
of Fayetteville issue, here's a run down:
To say that The Rock Shop took the Best of Fayetteville competition
by storm is something of an understatement. The club carried the Nightlife
category and got nods in several other categories.
If we were surprised, that's nothing compared to the shock of Rock
Shop owner Shawn Adkins.
"I was blown away," said Adkins. " We really were not expecting this."
Adkins explained that The Rock Shop has been in operation at its
Eastern Boulevard location since 2006.
" We have been at the forefront of bringing music to Fayetteville,
and providing an alternative atmosphere from the mainstream for those
who simply love music," he said. "It began with a vision...a place where
musicians, artists and those who just appreciate a good time can congregate."
And that's certainly what the club has become. Adkins welcomes music of
all genres through his doors and keeps local bands pretty busy. Additionally,
he recently branched into the art realm hosting a showing of music artist Trish
Harris at the club.
" We are currently in the process of expanding into a new location downtown
to accommodate bigger events and to expand capacity," he continued.
Adkins and company's presence is already felt downtown as participants
in the Dogwood Festival. For the past two years The Rock Shop has hosted a
second entertainment stage, with Adkins booking all of the acts who perform.
Adkins promises with the move to the new location, the community can
expect even more from the club, but it seems our readers already think they
give us plenty!
So if you are looking for a place to hear great music, get great drinks from
skilled bartenders, listen to a great deejay spin some tunes, or play pool, The
Rock Shop is the ideal destination.
