Changing of the guard Beta Nu Successful in All Areas of Greek Life T he transition into my role as chapter president has been swift, rewarding, and as always with Beta Nu, full of excitement! It is hard to believe all that we have accomplished in a few short months. I am beyond proud to share our successes made possible by the hard work of our members, chapter council, and alumnae. Academically, we placed fourth among Panhellenic sororities. This was a huge triumph; not only did we improve our average GPA and academic rank in Greek life, we also exceeded the all-women active member average. We are lucky to have emily Moss '13, the new Vice President of Academic Excellence, who does a great job rewarding our members for exceptional studying habits. One of our incentive programs is "Kappas Kaught Studying" recognizing members for spending time BeTa Nu BulleTiN Kappa Kappa Gamma • The Ohio State University Spring 2014 (Continued on page 2) W hat an incredible six months it has been since our last newsletter. The undergraduate chapter recruited and initiated a record-breaking 51 members, and we continued to make progress on our plans for an updated Dreamhouse. As you can imagine, initiating 51 women in our current chapter house was quite a challenge. Nevertheless, it was a great reminder of the unique bonds we share in Kappa. For those of you who visited www.OhioStateKappa.com for details or photos of the 125 th Anniversary Celebration, I would encourage you to keep visiting from time to time for all things Beta Nu, such as: • Active chapter news and reports • Individual alumnae updates (The response has been so great, we can only fit so many in our printed newsletters!) • Special Beta Nu events • Building project updates, photos, and ways you can get involved—even if you're not in Columbus And if you're not receiving our e-mails, be sure to send us your up-to-date e-mail address for quick notes when we update the site. As some of you have heard, we will be doing an extensive renovation and addition to the Dreamhouse. If you have driven through campus recently, you may have already noticed that the annex is no more! She came down in just under an hour, and it's amazing how different the site looks already. Construction officially begins in May, and we will have more information to share with all alumnae in the coming months. As I say at every turn, I continue to be amazed and humbled by the amount of work and number of people it takes to complete a project like this one. From our teams at Ruscilli Construction and Glavan Group Architects to the Ohio State Office of Student Life, there are so many people to thank for their tireless efforts to get us where we are today. However, who I would most like to recognize are the members of our outstanding boards who have selflessly volunteered to make this project possible. Their names are listed on page 2. I would be remiss if I did not also thank the actives and their fearless leaders for continued focus on academic excellence, remarkable recruitment capabilities, and willingness to do their part to prepare for life in our updated facility. The additional space and upgrades are getting great feedback from the members. When times get challenging—and believe me—they do, I can always count on our collegians to remind me just why we're doing this. Their participation, gratitude, and giddiness is inspiring and energizing. Finally, thank YOU for continuing to keep in contact with Beta Nu. Whether it's for the first time in a long time or just a regular occurrence, it's amazing how much it really is for a lifetime, isn't it?
