"I feel the university and Iowa Staters have given me so much that remaining engaged as an alumnus is my way of reciprocating. There are many deserving alumni and friends of the university, therefore, I was honored to be a recipient," said Jon. Jon's passion for Iowa State University is decades long and unwavering. His primary involvement has been with the chapter as an alumnus advisor for the past 28 years, the Alumni Association as chairman of the board of directors in 2007-08, the university foundation on the board of directors, and, of course, Cyclone athletics. Recalling Spring in Ames As I write this, I am cautiously optimistic that winter has in fact ended in Iowa. I don't remember a winter being this cold in the last 30 years. But now the tulips are up and it appears that spring will really happen. Spring was always my favorite season when I was an undergraduate. For those of you who lived in the old house, you will remember the third- floor deck, which served as a place for those who wished to get an early start on their tan. Friday afternoon clubs were also very popular back in those days. House Nears Capacity I am pleased to report that we had a very successful spring recruitment. We are hoping to recruit additional members this summer to reach capacity for the fall semester. Congratulations to the undergraduate members and the recruitment chairmen for a job well done. We always appreciate any recommendations from alumni for young men who are planning to attend ISU in the fall. If you have any recommendations, please contact the recruitment chairman listed on page 2. New Board Member Welcomed I would also like to welcome Andy Nelson '07 as our newest alumni corporation board member. Andy was an active undergraduate and served as chapter president. I am sure he will bring a youthful perspective to our board. Fall Tailgate Mark your calendar for September 5-6 for our fall tailgate. You should receive notification shortly and I urge you to sign up and attend. We had a very good group in attendance last year and hope to increase our numbers this fall. Contributions Impact Chapter Finally, thank you once again for all the donations that have been made to the fraternity and the university foundation for fraternity purposes. These donations enable us to keep our house in good condition and give us a competitive advantage over the dormitories in recruiting new members.
