Delta Delta Delta • University of Alabama Spring 2014 The Crescent Celebrate Delta Mu: 2014 Marks 100-Year Anniversary of Delta Mu's Founding T his year has flown by. With a beautiful new house; a record-setting number of new members, successful fundraising by the Chapter for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a renewed sense of commitment to Tri Delta and particularly Delta Mu, and especially a reconnection with so many sisters, we have much to celebrate. And celebrate we will! Did you know that 2014 is the 100-year anniversary of the founding of Delta Mu Chapter at the University of Alabama? Look forward to news of a grand celebration of this milestone in November and (finally!) the dedication of the new house and presentation of donor plaques and donor wall to honor the many loyal members whose commitments made all of this possible. It is not too late to participate in fundraising for Delta Mu. If you have an outstanding pledge for the capital campaign, that is of highest priority; please take this opportunity to make sure you are on schedule and up-to- date with your pledge. However, some of you completed your pledge (thank you!) or were unable to make a gift at the time of the capital campaign. We have begun an annual campaign that will allow us to do small projects or build a maintenance fund for the Chapter House for ongoing maintenance. These dollars are not tax deductible but are vital to sustaining our success. These dollars will go to the Delta Mu House Corporation. Please use the enclosed pledge card and envelope to make your annual campaign gift, or you may go to http://tridelta.kintera.org/deltamu to make an online gift. These are separate from the capital campaign but just as helpful. Remember the wonderful time you had during your college years and way beyond? This was all possible because of those who came before us and the gifts of time, money, and love they made. Now as we celebrate 100 glorious years of Delta Delta Delta at the University of Alabama and all that has meant for the members, the University and our communities, it is time for us to pass it on through our time, money, and love. Thank you all for your support in so many ways this year and last. And a special thank-you goes to house corporation board members and Chapter advisors who have given of their time. Delta Love, Amanda Still Humber '70 House Corporation President (205) 799-2126 ashumber@gmail.com Spring Busy for Collegians with Philanthropy and Events T he spring has been a busy semester in the Tri Delta house. We have been very active with recruitment, philanthropy events, and Greek Week. Academics Strong Tri Delta had an excellent academic semester in the fall with our Chapter earning a G.P.A. of 3.45, which places us fourth of the 18 sororities on campus. Recently, our academic development chairman, Cari Grace Lutkins '12, started a new resume workshop and an in-house tutoring system to help all of our members in their academic endeavors. Jam for St. Jude In February, Delta Mu hosted a new event, Jam for St. Jude, at the Sigma Nu house where we raised over $13,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Philanthropy Chairman Taylor Lawhon '12 is busy planning a crawfish boil that we are all excitedly awaiting, as well. The freshman pledge class celebrates with our new members on Spring Bid Day.
