president, along with serving on reunion committees throughout the years. She has quite a few Tri
Delt friends in her area whom she enjoys seeing regularly. MarLa also has lots of family members
who have pledged Delta Mu throughout the years: her daughter, Virginia Wagenheim Parks '83,
niece, Jeannine Stephenson Henry '82, nephew's wife, Carol Smith Stephenson '80, and great-
nieces, Maggie Stephenson '08 and Ellie Henry '13. These family connections have allowed her
to stay connected with Delta Mu.
MarLa lives in Tuscaloosa with her husband, former University of Alabama President Roger Sayers.
When Roger was appointed President, MarLa and two other ladies raised money to completely
restore the President's Mansion, where they lived during his time in office. In addition to Virginia,
who is a partner at Fitts Agency, they have a son, Dr. Herbert Riggs Wagenheim. MarLa enjoys
playing tennis, attending women's clubs, walking, and traveling. She can be contacted by e-mail at
