PRESENTATION Health partnership to meet Tuesday The Red Bluff Joint Union High School Dis- trict Board of Trust- ees met Tuesday with the consultants aiding in the search for a new su- perintendent to review stakeholder input from the five stakeholder fo- rums — students, com- munity members, cer- tificated staff, classified staff and administra- tive staff, according to a press release issued Fri- day. The board will se- lect members from each stakeholder to act as an interview committee for that group. The board will also be selecting a chairperson for each group and developed a list of questions to ask the finalists in the application process. It is not too late to participate in the pro - cess. Members of the stakeholder groups who were not able to attend the forums and would like to be considered for the candidate interview committee should notify the District Office at 529- 8700 by 4 p.m. Tuesday. ENgAgEmENT By Kathy garcia Summer is a great time for families to do a lot to- gether, but it can also be a time when kids' minds are less stimulated and they are at risk of sliding back - wards academically. Stay- ing active, learning through travel, reading and explora- tion are all fun and can be done close to home. Expect More Tehama would like to make sure that all parents in the county have a great sum - mer activities guide in their hands before the end of the school year. A simple guide that includes everything from where to take swim - ming lessons to camps, movies in the park, spe- cial events at Lassen Volca- nic National Park and last but not least, reading pro- grams at the library. We are currently updating our guide from last year and need your help. Help us cre - ate a complete picture of the summer activities avail- able. Email kgarcia@job- trainingcenter.org and share what activities we should all know about. A shout out Wanting the best for our kids in Tehama County happens in so many amaz- ing ways and by so many amazing people. Can we shout out a few? Great job to the par - ents and caretakers of ba- bies and toddlers who read to them daily. They already have such an advantage. To the preschool workers who make sure those little ones are ready for kinder - garten. You have done so much to give them the tools they must have to start off on the right foot. To the people who do - nate kids' books to be given away via community book- shelves, little free libraries, book giveaways, movies in the park and parades. Kids must have books at home and so many of our kids do not. Thank you. To the people who take their own and other kids on excursions to see some - thing new: another town, a ballet, a college, a ma- jor sporting event, a play, a concert, a museum, a fancy restaurant, a boat, a moun- tain. You stretch their vi- sion of the world as they know it. To the coaches who choose to teach kids sports and sportsmanship and what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. It keeps so many looking forward to each day and each season. To those who share the art, fishing, animal care, acting, singing, farming, dance, cooking, mechanics and so much more. Thanks for sharing your talents. To the service clubs and families who continue to fund local scholarships, un - derstanding the financial burden of higher education is what keeps many from attending. You rock! To the teachers who, with all the requirements they face today, still make kids excited to learn and excel. You have answered your true calling. To those who have hired a young person, allow - ing them to learn what it means to earn a wage. That work experience is so valu- able. To the grandparents, aunts, uncles and close friends, youth pastors and mentors who step in and transport kids, cheer their teams, encourage their ef - forts, and spend quality time. Thank you. It all makes a difference. Together we are making a difference.
