G amma Xi Chapter has had a wonderful year so far. We welcomed 75 new members last fall, received the coveted Patricia Peterson Danielson Award at convention, and hosted a successful parents weekend presenting our lovely new member class as members of our chapter. Along with the several successful awareness booths, the Anchor Splash® booth was a great accomplishment. The last week of October, leading up to Anchor Splash®, Gamma Xi collected donations for Service for Sight outside the student union. This year's Dads' Weekend fell on the day of Anchor Splash®. It was an incredible experience to share with our dads how we raise money for Service for Sight. As the semester came to a close, DG Cram was in full swing. The last week of school, the lodge is open 24/7. While it may be a stressful time of year, it is amazing to watch how alumnae become involved. They bring in coffee and food, and are constantly supporting chapter members throughout the busy week. Delta Gamma parents also put together study baskets with candy, blankets, and even scantrons and pencils. Without them, DG Cram would not be the wonderful event that it is, helping a record 23 women earn 4.0 GPAs for the fall 2013 semester. The spring semester has been successful as well. We welcomed 14 beautiful new members to our chapter during continuous open bidding. Throughout the month of February, Gamma Xi had everything from recruitment workshops, to date parties and sisterhood events. The chapter was very fortunate to have a visit from the Guide Dogs of Texas to speak at our chapter meetings. It was wonderful to see hands-on how Delta Gamma is supporting our local community. Gamma Xi is eagerly awaiting what the rest of the spring semester has to offer. Members are planning for Anchorslam (Gamma Xi's spring philanthropy event), as well as formal, chapter retreat, and sisterhood events. Gamma Xi is a chapter that has thrived off sisterhood and has been "Doing Good" for 60 years; we strive to continue to do so for the next 60. Our 2013 Bid Day theme was "All you need is love." Congratulations, Grace Acuña '10! G amma Xi congratulates Grace Acuña '10 for being selected as a Delta Gamma collegiate development consultant. She will work for the Frater- nity for one year, traveling, advising, and assisting collegiate chapters. "I applied to be a CDC because I truly believe I wouldn't be the leader I am today without the support and encouragement from my advisors, Gamma Xi sisters, and the entire Delta Gamma Fraternity molding me into leadership roles these past four years. I am so humbled for the opportunity to be that resource and encouragement to other collegiate members." Grace has served on the Panhellenic Circle of Sisterhood committee, as a recruitment counselor, and is a member of the Order of Omega and Rho Lambda honor societies. Outside of the Greek community she has been very active on campus as a member of the Catholic student association, vice president of the college of media and communication ambassadors, and a media relations intern for the office of marketing and communications for the president's office. G amma Xi is proud to report that five women were select- ed for President's Select. President's Select is a group of Texas Tech University student am- bassadors chosen specifically to serve Texas Tech through the Of- fice of the President, Office of Ad- missions, and Texas Tech Athletics in the recruitment of new students and the fostering of relationships with all university publics, includ- ing prospective students, special guests, and alumni.
