Why Bonnie Oden '71 Gave to Gamma Xi Bonnie met the love of her life, David, while at Tech. When asked how they met, the couple laughed. "We met on a blind date. We can't remember who set it up—it may have been set up by a sorority sister or maybe someone in Bonnie's dorm," David shared. "But we probably wouldn't have me if it weren't for Delta Gamma." During Bonnie's four years in college, Delta Gamma was an integral part of her life. Her best friends were sisters from her pledge class and she lived with several as a junior and senior when they could live in apartments instead of the dorm. Throughout Bonnie's life she has continued to have positive experiences because of the Delta Gamma connection. From seeing a sister on the streets of New York to finding sisters in church in Dallas, Bonnie was always reconnecting with Gamma Xi sisters. In fact, last summer she reconnected with one of her pledge sisters, who was also a former roommate, for the first time in 41 years. It was a wonderful, joyous reunion weekend! The positive impact the Delta Gamma had on Bonnie's life is nearly immeasurable, which is why she chose to contribute to the Building on a Tradition of Excellence campaign. Delta Gamma provided Bonnie with an opportunity to make lifelong sisters and help her navigate the transition from teenager to adult. Today, Bonnie is a spiritual director.
