Alumni news Big Red Island NEWS 3 MEET GAMMA LAMBDA'S BUILDING CORPORATION Michael Colvin '86 M ichael Colvin '86 decided to join Beta Theta Pi after being recruited by Kent Savage '84 during his senior year of high school. "The Gamma Lambda Chapter was different from any other fraternity on campus. The brotherhood was unified and their commitment to each other was beyond reproach." Michael served the chapter as historian with John Naberhaus '86 and as chairman of ethics. He made many lifelong friends, including Thomas Welch '81, a graduate student who served as an advisor and confidant during his pledge year through his professional career. "It is my memory of him and the way he handled diversity in his life that finds its influence in practically every aspect of mine." Due to his experience and the positive influence members of the chapter had on him, Michael chose to volunteer to serve on the building committee. "Because of my love for the chapter, I desire to do what I can to ensure the continuance of the positive impact the Gamma Lambda Chapter has had on the lives of so many men and families through the years. My time and resources are immeasurable compared to the debt I owe to Big Red Island." Michael graduated with degrees in marketing management and economics. He also earned a law degree from South Texas College of Law. He is an in-house litigation specialist for Fidelity National Financial. He has two sons, Chase '14 and Chad. Chase served as the president of Gamma Lambda and serves as a national speaker to alumni groups on behalf of the general fraternity promoting Beta and its principles. Chad is a senior in high school with plans to attend Oklahoma State in the fall. T ony Borelli '08 joined the Gamma Lambda Chapter right after it gained chapter status after being a colony for two years. Tony lived in the house for four years while pursuing an architectural engineering degree. He went on to receive a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in energy management. He works as an analyst for an oil and gas company, SandRidge Energy. Tony brings his professional experience and talent to the building corporation. "I have always wanted to do something for the house that could be remembered by my children, in addition to leaving my personal mark on the history of Beta Theta Pi at OSU.
